RE: Asking, pleading for kittys to gain love from day one.
I think we have all expressed our various wishes to be treated with respect and be heard despite our varying opinions. Let's get back to the benefits or disadvantages of pregnant pre-teen kitties!

I agree with Saga's point about new traits being so much about luck. I guess I think that we could get a leg up if we were able to breed at 7 days. However, I don't know, maybe that would just create more lucky breeders in the short term. But it seems like it would make creating well traited kitties with new traits a little more do-able.

I'm having one of those frustrating period where I had a cat that wasn't being used so I opened a box to use with it. Now I'm wasting part of my adult kittie's breeding time waiting for the kitten to grow up. Granted, this was a cat that I wasn't using and may have just gone in my inventory or had her breed turned off but regardless, it does add a little tiny extra inconvenience.

RE: Asking, pleading for kittys to gain love from day one.
First off i think peeps need too put there claws back in, its only a dissuasion no need to get catty Tongue

@ Bea, they still be lil kittys from tea-toy then full grown that would not change

@ Ethereal, no i am not asking for a win button nor every thing handed to me on a plate, and i have made with thread "looking at the bigger picture" ....i work just as hard as the next breeder to pull traits make kittys yaddy yaddy.

If your worry is that the new traits out of new starters will be discovered quicker.. HELLO did you not see that probably every new trait that came with the last batch was found in 13 days ? Without back breeding ?

Anyways i do like the suggestion Sara came up with.

17 days in SL is a dam lot of time, and what got me thinking about reviving the old idea that saga had was i have been gifting some kittys to new peeps, who breed diff breedables trying to get them into KC, and that was one thing they all came up with why so long until they can mate ?

RE: Asking, pleading for kittys to gain love from day one.
Balance is important.

We have to balance the aging-in and cooling-off periods against the effective life-span.

We have to balance the needs of players who are on all day, every day, against players who are only on over the week-ends.

As to the speed of discovery: that is more a function of the number of starters purchased, the other breeding stock available to the player, the skill level of the player, and the 50/50 nature of KittyCatS genetics, than it is a function of time.

I also think it is a matter of balance.
Because I want to have a reason to buy and sell cats at for example an auction or just on the market.
Before gender was on the box I think, I was one of those, who just waited for so long to have the right gender to complete my project while now we can nicely tuck the boxes in our inventory for eventually later use or to get a tiger.
I find myself especially looking on the markets and during auctions for that cat which can help me to complete my project.
And I sell my cats this way as well.
Maybe if we have and gender on the box and breeding after 7 days this I will do way less because I might as well wait till my projects turn 7 days old and are at 100% at the same time.
I feel for the market it might be better than we think in first instance, the time they grow up and and need to gain enough love to breed, because I'm a frequent love shack user to test this hidden fur ear or tail and buy the wonderful breeding work of others and this keeps the economy rolling.
I liked the way Ethereal brought it (and I'm not defending her Khea, and I don't hate you <3) we need to deserve our kitties Smile
At least this I think is very cool when patience is rewarded sometimes I letterly cry when a plan comes together.
I know I'm goofy at times!

Agreed. An uncivil remark can escalate spirited discussion into a personal argument that no longer focuses objectively on the problem. Resolve differences of opinion or conflicts through civil discussion; disagree without being disagreeable. Cool

Seem this is a way to satisfy two sided discussion in this forum. Dodgy

I've downrated a couple posts when people falsely advertise on the topic, for example, saying something is 9t, when it isn't, or people just spamming or soapboxing, which is needless. I also usually post in the thread. I think the rating system is dumb, hence why I was joking around sarcastically in the thread asking for it to be removed, but I have used the feature before, and I feel the way I used it, was how it was intended.

No, I could care less when things get discovered. I also never said you don't work hard, or that there are people who suck at breeding, or whatever else you guys seem to think I'm saying.

(11-27-2012 10:48 AM)Khea Karas Wrote:  We are all here to discuss a topic, and if you cant do that in a constructive manner then perhaps you should keep your opinions to yourself. It is not necessary to insinuate others are lesser breeders than yourself, simply because they hold different opinions to your own. I can assure you i have been around kittycats long enough and this is not an excuse for an easy breed. I am also well aware of how to pull traits and breed like most of us discussing this topic do.

My suggestion was not to increase the total output of boxes a cat would have in a breeding lifetime. It was simply to support the idea that a cat could have a kitten at 7 days. As soon as it is fully mature, with a cut back of its total breeding lifetime from 120 days to 113 days. Therefore there would NOT be an increase of kitten/cats flooding the market, it would stay as it is in terms of quantity.

Where in my posts (on this thread) have I ever implied anyone was a bad breeder? Quit being so sensitive. It's like you people just see and read what you want and skip over the rest. I've been nothing but constructive, but you guys just want to attack me and say I'm wrong. Not everyone has to agree with you, and I'm perfectly in my rights to voice my disagreement, just as you are. The fact of the matter is, this whole thing is subjective, and no one will ever be able to prove one this is right or wrong, good or bad, but I'd say ATM, this idea has no real beneficial properties, just selfish ones.

And to your second point, yes, I understand all of that, but if you read what I wrote, that none of that takes into account how a cat depreciates in value over the course of its life. Secondly, for new breeders, I'd wager the 14 day cool down period for their new kitten might be more helpful, they don't have to give it milk (and no, they don't need milk from 1-7), they can plan a little better with what and how they want to breed, and they can just generally take their time and learn.

(11-27-2012 11:05 AM)Saga Felix Wrote:  Oh, and to the few that insinuates that those who suggests things will never be happy anyway, let me say: When I started in KittyCatS, there were 3 major things I wished would change: Unpack-time, gender on boxes, and the kittens' time to grow up. 3 things. 2 of them have already happened, and I think we can all agree that those are good things, and that KittyCatS fixed these things brilliantly.
-I am sure that this last thing would also be a good thing, but I do not think it will happen. Why? Well, simply because too many people disagree, and I don't think KittyCatS would force a change that could split the community.
-But even if I think it's unlikely to happen, I will stand by the last of "my 3 wishes" any time :-)

-Saga

So just because your other 2 ideas (which were pretty good, and generally agreed upon by the almost the entirety of the community, probably even before YOU posted them), saying this change, by default, should get made is just plain silly.

For the record, the last time this change was proposed, I got a ton of IMs from people, who lets face it, don't want to voice their opinions for the reasons that are happening right now. You guys attack me and completely disregard anything I'm saying, so far as to assume that I'm 'implying' various things, just because I'm against this idea. You guys gang up on people who disagree with you, and hey, that's basically how every society works anyway, so it's not surprising, but I for one wont give in.
