RE: Suggestion: Gender before birth
I never posted in here before but I think this suggestion needs more weight. So everybody who's only reading so far, please speak up and let your voices be heard!

YES, please give us the gender on boxes option.
I'm getting tired of my army of boys!

And they do no good anyways. I mean, what good do kitties do that have been unpacked and sent to Menagerie immidiatly because it has the wrong gender? If I knew the gender before, I could keep the box for the next breeding circle or at least set it up for sale. But that poor kitten wouldn't have gotten killed right after birth and instead have a happy life in another cattery.

All so called arguments I read in here about why there aren't no genders on boxes so far make no sense to me. As mentioned before, you rather know the gender due to todays medicine than knowing their eye-color or ear- & tail-shape.
To me - and I hope this doesn't come of rude, it's seriously not meant that way - it sounds like "We're not doing it, because the other breedables before us didn't do it, too."
Well, at least one other breedable after KittyCats did and as we're now also have a petting option it's not that a big step really...

PLEASE!

RE: Suggestion: Gender before birth
I like to add a pro to this feature, retailers.
In the mean while I have a lovely location @ juiceberry farms and I'm super happy with it and here I can sell my cats.
Ofcourse my prims are limited but people almost all only want to buy live cats, to know the gender for their breeding strategy, rather than boxes and I can't blame them but this means I'm out of prims fast (even with the 8 prim option).
I think many face this problem boxes are almost not to sell unless we sell them way lower than their value is when unboxed because customers buy the gender risk as well.

RE: Suggestion: Gender before birth
At this point I wouldn't mind paying to see what the sex of an unborn kitty was (like the pregnancy test previously suggested). I'm just starting out and at first it was fun not to know if the boxes I was opening were boys or girls but now its become such a pain. It's kind of putting a damper on the whole breeding idea for me. I think that what everyone above has said were all very valid and reasonable points. Just wanted to add my in my two cents since I took the time to actually read every post and think that more people should be voicing their opinions on the subject.

RE: Suggestion: Gender before birth
Bad mood here! I start to believe gender is not even random I start to think people get boy and girl invations on purpose and I sure hope this is not true!
I might see this totally wrong but lets face it this gender thingy is not quite transparant and therefore leaves room for speculation about the randomness.
And on top of this I think it is just not smart by selling our kittens and boxes properly for realistic amounts gives us the oppertunity to cover our hobby costs in terms of food and maybe make a little profit and THIS makes it possible for us to continue our hobby and will bring KC more solid income as we can continue to cope with costs!
I feel a bomb is placed on the value of a kitten as breeders sell their well traited boxes very cheap no insanely low and their live cats as well as they make a calculation how long they want to feed the cats for sale to keep a little profit or to play even.
These are often times cats a breeder did put endless time and money in we see for garage sale prices yuck!
I dont like to gamble I rather have fun!

RE: Suggestion: Gender before birth
I find it strange that we have been given no plausible explanation as to why KCs still refuses to enable this info.
As Shelbi says, not knowing could be a source of intrigue for the first couple of boxes but after it certainly is not.
Each breeder has a quota of kitties that he can manage, and in fact if he was able to advance better in his breeding program then in fact this could permit and encourage him to be able to raise this quota which would mean more food milk and potion sales, so beneficial all round. Birthing the wrong sex consumes prims and having to send a kitty to the menagerie because we can't afford the prims or selling space for the wrong sex is a downer we really don't need.
If there really was a 50/50 chance of each of one getting male or female each time then this function would be less necessary for us but anyone who's been in KCs for 6 months or more has had the time to observe that there is a swing every 5/6 weeks or so to getting practically all males or all females, and birthing just one sex 10 to 15 times in a row is extremely discouraging.
And of course there is the selling aspect, it's not just about prim space in stores but i'm certainly not the only one who balks at selling live kitties in a store. I don't hang about in markets much as i find it depressing seeing all those cute kitties not selling just because they don't have the right traits. I have sold just 2 live kitties in a store and this was months ago. Otherwise i only sell a kitty or 2 per week in auctions as i know that for the price they fetch people will appreciate them and they will find a good home. So having the sex on boxes would be a godsend to sellers.
I could develop much more but no one wants to read a book on this forum.
Just hoping that we will have real explanations and a debate about this function which the vast majority of KC clients have been hoping for for months now ….

Ofcourse I have no proof but this certainly is very curious this same gender invation I really start to dislike breeding to much frustration is not fun both thumbs down!

Kayleigh, i believe that the server calculates globally and not individually , and chucks out what it's dumb binary mind thinks best, and i don't believe there is a way of tweaking this (scripters correct me if i'm wrong about this)
But i can quite understand your grrr level getting high at times as it does most of us.

RE: Suggestion: Gender before birth
Waking this thread up again as many of us are still tapping our feet and waiting on this.
Ok it may produce a slight drop in food sales but i doubt that much (as this is probably the main reason the KC team don't wish to allow it) and people will still want to show their best kitties live in their stores.
On the other hand it could keep quite a few customers from leaving KCs and would make many very happy i think.

Thumbs Up RE: Suggestion: Gender before birth
I love this idea. As some have mentioned knowing what the gender is before we open the box will help in not consuming prims for when any KittyCats owners wish to match up a female and male for breeding. Smile
