RE: Suggestion: Milk to specific cats
My suggestion for the Cattery:
Follow the "folder" model. It's familiar to users. Since these are cats, not files, call the folders "pens".
Question for analysis and user feedback: are multi-level pens required? Easier implementation would imply 'no'. But it may be a useful feature.
Allow the user to name the pens.
Allow cats, and boxes, to be moved from pen to pen.
If multi-level pens are provided, allow pens to be moved as well.
User option for Cattery: should new boxes appear in this pen? If not, new boxes go to a common "Newborn kittens" pen.
User option for Cattery: should we email you when a kitten is born? If so, include the name of the pen where the box was stored.
Boxes and cats moved from Second Life to the Cattery go the the special "General Population" pen.
Robo-cuddler: select no more than 2 cats to cuddle for 30 minutes. If you cuddle one for 15, then start cuddling the other, in 15 minutes you'll stop cuddling the first and can cuddle another. This requires direct web action: no queues .. if you want to be cuddling all the time you have to log in and do it by hand.
Pen options:
Per-pen food.
Per-pen milk.
Pens marked for per-pen food do not pull from the common supply. To move food to the pen you must log in, select the number of common bowls of food or milk to assign to the pen. If the pen runs out, the cats in it cannot eat or drink milk. If the common supply runs out, but the pen still has food or milk, the cats in the pen are fine but all others cannot eat or drink milk. This is a feature, not a penalty (some of us actually do intentionally starve certain cats).
If multi-level pens are implemented, a point for analysis/feedback: should food/milk serve only that pen, or should it serve that pen and all sub-pens within it?
