And I can't remember what other one comes out, but I could swear there is like one every other month? Maybe Callab kitties? I have a Callabor from aug last year.

Curious I had the same perception as you Misa Smile
But I think Dev is right indeed.

RE: Spacing Limited Editions
I was just thinking that Dev! I know we have collection releases practically all year but somehow Halloween-Easter seems way more hectic and I always feel like I have to pick, choose, and strategize which collection to focus on and how to make it work in my cattery. RFL came out last year on July 12th if the site is correct: http://kittycats.biz/blog/2012/07/12/kic...kittycats/

And I think the fact that we get a little break from having to purchase starters for a few months combined with the two post-Easter collections being small, with the RFL 2012 kitties having 4 different gacha options (Goldie, Golden, Nickel, Nicki) and the Collabor88 2012 Baroque coming in only two flavors as well, just really lightened the load above and beyond the dates that these collections were released.

Maybe it's because some (me included at times when I fall in love with a collection but I've learned to moderate my habit a bit, LOL) feel compelled to keep buying starters to get that grail one in the gacha so they end up with so many starters (and often can't breed all of them, unfortunately, nor can sell them off as everyone else is trying to sell off their mass quantities too) it's overwhelming or having to look to the secondary market with its sometimes exorbitant prices to purchase that grail starter if their gacha luck was poor, and then can't afford to purchase the new release a month down the road because of the hefty price paid to obtain their sole dream kitty from that collection not to mention the lack of breeding time that was able to be put into it.

I really can't figure pinpont exactly why the Halloween-Easter time frame always feels much more hectic while the months in-between seem more peaceful despite having RFL and Collabor88, and little goodies and surprises inserted like last year's Team KittyCatS. Is it a combination of the size of these Halloween-Easter collections - which are always large in comparison to the off-months - with having a few months apart to progress on our breeding projects without any interruption, that makes Halloween-Easter seem so much more exhaustive?

RE: Spacing Limited Editions
I think the reason the holiday kitties stand out more is like you said the collection is usually larger for one. But I think it used to be they hid more traits than the others.
So combine the want of full sets with the pressure of trying to get the kitty that lays the golden egg of new traits. It makes it seem more over whelming.

RE: Spacing Limited Editions
I love the idea of something being made Limited... maybe instead of releasing Limited Edition kittys there could be Limited Edition dresses for the cat. How about a scripted valentines bed in limited edition... or limited edition dress ups or costums... that way you have something for each occasion but not always cats? Smile)) Though I love all the LE's of course the more the merrier but I couldn't even breed the last few ones since it took me so long to get behind some hiddings. I have tons of boxed LE's yet to be breeded in my Inventory *laughs*

Well that is so far my five cent and ideas to the topic Smile

RE: Spacing Limited Editions
I love the Holiday LE's and would be VERY sad to not have those!!! It might be interesting if the "rare" ones out of each collection, such as the Omelette and Spring Sky had to be birthed instead of purchased, like the Dreams of Eire & Mardi Gras ones....just a thought!

I put down my book, The Meaning of Zen, & see the cat smiling into her fur
as she delicately combs it with her rough pink tongue.
Cat, I would lend you this book to study but it appears you have already read it.
She looks up & gives me her full gaze.
Don't be ridiculous, she purrs, I wrote it.

RE: Spacing Limited Editions
In general, KittyCatS handles the narrow path they have to walk pretty well.

Randomness is required to generate initial game tokens (starters). The issue is when some tokens have higher value than others, which usually results from different odds for the tokens. This can lead to violations of the Linden Labs Terms of Service. While we do see this happen, occasionally, with KittyCatS, its generally short-lived and not a controlling feature of the game.

In general, gender, which is always even-odds and only has two values, does not participate in this issue.

The issue at hand, though, is whether gender should have been solely random or whether they should have provided gender-selected vendors. This comes from the pairs which, when bred, produce a third special collection cat.

While the idea of having additional types of offspring is appealing, it would need to be controlled by game-play and not the initial randomness. In other words, new traits. Otherwise, it's an extension of the gambling phase and increases rather than decreases the risk of violation of the ToS.

In addition, it would most likely actually increase the complaints about the lack of gender determination.

My feeling is, since gender generally has nothing at all to do with the perceived value of the starters, and since, in collections as just released, it has very strong effect upon the players ability to produce a new, valuable game token, failure to provide gender-selected vendors, as they have in the past, unnecessarily increases the risk of violation of the prohibitions but does not quite cross the line. Adding additional non-genetic results, such as random, and sometimes rare, offspring, rather than the single one we see here, would most likely cross the line.

I love the Holiday LEs too! I just think I would buy more if they were spaced out throughout the year. By the time Easter comes around, I have so many starters in my cattery that I just hold off instead of buying several from each vendor. In fact this time I just bought a few from the vendor and then went around the secondary market to make sure I got the right gender balance to birth the special kittens. If this was mid summer I would probably have bought a ton more because I know the next big release wouldn't be until fall, and I would have lost patience on the starters from winter and have more room in my cattery to load up!
It's just my perception that summer means fewer new traits, and not as much kitty excitement. I would like more neat stuff in summer too! And I don't necessarily mean more releases - if the birds and bees were in the summer it would be more spread out maybe?
I don't mind so much that the rare ones are random buys. That's great for the secondary market and it makes you feel like a superhero if you get the rare on the first buy from the vendor!

tsk tsk Tad. I had to take two aspirin after reading your last post! Confused rofl

I agree Misa. We all love the LEs. And I agree with you that it would be great to have them spaced out to the summer instead of being bombarded between Halloween and Easter.
