I got a male 'St Patricks Day' Kitty too. It's wearing a green mask so it's possible the Mardi Gras boys were misnamed. I guess.

Another question I'm curious on, if you get the girl, in this case the Mardi Gras one, does that mean you can't get the boy even though the boy is St Patty's Day?

You get one. Not one each gender. Not one each costume. Just "one".

If you got a Mardi Gras girl and want a St. Pat boy, you'll have to purchase him. Or you could do like many of us and pass your cats to an ALT and try for another. Who knows? You might get another girl you can trade to someone for a boy
