The Trait Tester Garden: a new educational space

• Do you have that nagging feeling that there is more to KittyCats than randomly bonking cute cats?
• Do you want to help your community AND learn what the Charts are for?

The Dominance Charts team is beginning our first in-world educational initiative. We have set up a space called the Trait Tester Garden. In the garden, we aim to teach new breeders and those with fuzzy breeding skills how to take a proof-test to completion. When you enter the garden, you will see a series of mats/platforms. Each one is labelled with the name of an unplaced trait.

Each student commits to seeing one proof-test to completion. For instance, we already have a test up for Magic Mountain eye versus Mystic Breeze. This is not a commitment to doing the entire placement of Magic Mountain. At the completion of the proof, a student may elect to take on another proof with the same trait or switch to a different one. The students own the cats and offspring and are expected to feed them. Students will be given test cats or they may opt to bring their own. (Donations of test cats and pullers are welcome.)

We are also seeking mentors with advanced breeding skills who know how to do a proof, who could regularly hang out in the garden and give ad hoc advice.
Priority on mats will always be given to students, rather than mentors. (I do have a test out now as a demonstration but will yield that space when a student comes up to test on that trait.) Prims are also limited; the parcel has been graciously granted for our use by the Cattales management.

New Boxed Cats

When I have a newly boxed kitten from Menagerie or bred cats. it gives me a choice to put them into the menagerie. If i don't what happens to them? Do they just sit in my account? Is there a way to send them to my inventory. I haven't been on the kitty scene since 2016, so I'm very rusty.

Starting the NEW YEAR I would like to give a block of time to help the breeders of all experience levels with breeding or general questions about KittyCats! Each week a specific topic and open forum. A different guest breeder/ auctioneer/ or Kittycats fan will assist in hosting each class!

Before jumping into the set-up or planning, I wanted to gauge the interested in something like this... See, if there is a need or want for for breeding help, saga chats, tips and tricks etc.

Hello! There turned out only to be 4 kitties for sale at tonight's 4PM auction, so I thought what a great opportunity to discuss these pedigrees more thoroughly! There will be a detailed pedigree course at SNP soon for beginners, but tonight's course is more for people who understand the basics of kittycats breeding but aren't always sure how to read a pedigree to determine what may be passing in the kitty. Are you just starting out with Kitty Cats? Have you been around for a while but you are still not sure if you are doing it right? Well Here is a class for you. Rayne and Hellcat is now doing a 17 week ground zero breeder class. What is Ground Zero Breeding? We will start with 1 9T Kitty with a Ground Zero Starter Kitty and start to learn how to pull out hidden and make clean traits.

What do I need? well simple. You need 1 Boy Starter from Kittycats. It can be a plain starter, it can be a menagerie kitty, it can even be a holiday kitty just long as it is a boy. Why does it have to be a boy? Simple that is because Hellcat and I will be providing you all with 9T Girls to go with them. Yes you are going to be able to pick your classic kitties from our stockpile.

Now you are asking what will this cost me? simple. it will cost you the starter kitty and the food for 17 weeks. We will be giving your 9T kitty for free! yes that's right free!

We will be birthing all the kitties at the same time at class, then we will keep them in sync for the class. Why? simple so we can trade the 9T kitties between each other in class to see what is back there. Some will get lucky and might even find a new trait others might find a new trait for their cattery.

If you are not able to make the first class due to RL reasons but you still wish to join in please feel free to start your kittys on Monday Janurary 11th so we are all on the same time table to have kitties at the same time. So we can review all the new kittys together.

Class Schedule
Week One: Picking out your 9T kitty and finding what the hiddens are also Q&A
Week Two: One week to go until your first box. Q&A also some hints and tips about your cattery.
Week three: Your first box! now was your kitty naughty or nice with it's hiddens?
Week Four: Now your second box. did you get the right sex with the correct hiddens? do you breed back or put it with another kitty?
Week 5-17: Q&A questions about your starter kitties talk about best practices and what you have learned and what you have found!

Greetings all you kittycat addicts ?????

I finally decided to make a little youtube video explaining the basic how to's of cattery cats (cattery docks) - the must know instructions.
Hope this helps some newcomers in clearly understanding some of the most basic cattery fun.
(Did the best I could with a vintage camera.. sorry for the quality at times)

I remember having some hard times when I 1st started too!
