Feature request
Add a button to cats/boxes to give you a landmark / teleport / slurl to the main shop!
Or, better yet, a link to THIS web site.
And fix the home page so it have more clear links to the main store, and the Manual section.
Gotta help the new players, ya' know?

And they can throw in an instruction manual button as well.
Perhaps under the HELP heading.
In other news,
The H.U.D unit gives you access to the website with a click,
if it could teleport you to the Main store, that would be a plus as well.

RE: Feature request
Yes I totally agree I remember I had my first cats and I felt totally overwhelmed by food, milk and vita's for example.
I had no idea what the essentials were and why.
I wanted to take good care of my cats ofcourse so I just bought everything available like an emergency kit that is how it felt at least XD
In example I did want for my cats to be happy ofcourse so I have bought many many happiness vitamines which I turned out not to need as I had milk also.
But besides that I thought they needed to be 100% happy.
Who doesn't want it's pet to be as happy as possible.
So my reasoning was the happier the better.
And kept doing that also til over time I found out what the essensials were food and (eventually) milk.
There needs to be something very accessable to find that out in as short as possible text.
Maybe via the menu of the cat indeed.
Not everybody always asks everything in chat or on the forums they might be shy when they start.

RE: Feature request
I would suggest that shyness is a major problem, and grows worse each day. New players can see there is a learning curve, and it's human nature to want to not appear unknowing. So, even though the KittyCatS community might, in general, be nice and extremely helpful, new users will naturally not want to ask about what they fear may be common knowledge.

I agree it might be nice to have a slurl dropper as well, but there *is* a link to the website .. all boxes and cats have an 'online help' button on the main menu that brings you to the website.

RE: Feature request
The link which is there is to the Pedigree. For new uesrs, it will present a login request which they won't be able to satisfy because they have not yet created an account.
The link I'm imagining would be to the main index page. Currently that page is just wasted space. I would redesign it to be more helpful to both potential and new customers, with clearly identified links to publicly accessible areas which include a brief description so someone with no knowledge at all can quickly find answers to their questions.
Here's the links on that page:
Home -- meaningless, links to the page you're on.
Our cats -- meaningless, presumes knowledge the visitor lacks
News -- interesting but imparts little knowledge
Forum -- too disorganized. Does not answer the questions "What are KittyCatS" "What can I DO with KittyCatS" and "Why should I do that"
Support -- requires login
My Account -- requires login
Pedigree -- requires login
Cattery -- requires login
Manual -- THIS is some of what the new user is looking for. Well, not all of it, but there's a lot there. It answers some, but not all of the "what can I do" questions. It does not really address the "what are" and "why should I care" questions.
Terms -- potentially interesting but actually pretty meaningless
Join Second Life -- sort silly, you're probabyl already a member
InSL -- dead link -- 404 error
Facebook -- link to the facebook page.
Twitter -- link to the twitter feed
Flickr -- link to the flickr images area
The Pampered Pet Company (at the bottom) -- meaningless link to the page you're on
As you can see, there is only one link which really has any meaning to a new or potential customer. And you have to search for it.

RE: Feature request
I agree the main page, before newcomers have an account even, should have meaningful info's/ links for new people maybe even a link which allows them to create an account.
It is hard to follow through with KittyCatS as a new person if they, for what ever reason, do not reach out to the group etc.
I was such a person who prefered to find things out on my own I am stubborn like that and was more shy.
I think more people are shy to begin with, they integrate in later instance and feel more free to ask around as they find friends etc. etc.
The fact I'm stubborn likely makes I followed through because it was a tough and an unneeded costly cookie to find my way.
Especially the last part could have been a turn off.
Finding my way in SL was about just as hard as finding my way in KittyCatS.
