not a bug, more of a feature request for next update: do not breed siblings
here's a feature request for more realism: do not breed siblings
as in, two cats that have the same parents will not mate with each other.
... the alternative, getting an offliner from your female cat that says "sorry i just had a stillborn. Do you want to attend the funeral?" would be not that nice.

I am sorry but I would not like this idea.

RE: not a bug, more of a feature request for next update: do not breed siblings
I dont like the idea either. As I stated in a previous post that my two sibling cats i have in rl mated before we could get them fixed. They are both smokey grey cats the father has an amazing short hair coat that is so silky smooth and even dark grey. The mother is a long-hair dark grey and has some tiny tiny patches of light grey and brown. The two offspring we got were both beautiful long hair even dark grey coats and are so gorgeous I had to keep them both (I always swore i would never have more than 2 cats)
Inbreeding is a very common method used in breeding cats just has a negative tone associated with it. I have researched more in the past day on it and it seems almost all purebred rl cats of high quality have had some sort of inbreeding. It seems problems come from too much inbreeding (I am no expert at all here, just an expert googler).
You as a KittyCats breeder though have ever right not to breed siblings and as a customer you can make it known that you will not buy a cat thats been inbred. In this way KittyCats doesn't tell us what to do but the market itself decides what is acceptable. Maybe you would find you might get a good customer base that agrees with you.
I bred Ozimals bunnies for over a year and used recursive inbreeding techniques all the time to help strengthen the traits in my bunnies and plan on doing the same with KittyCats.

It really isn’t that unusual for cats to mate with siblings and/or parents. That is used especially for breeding out the best qualities in RL. They don’t look at mating with each other as we humans do - they are in heat, then they are in heat ... period. So to suggest that, and say that it brings more realism, is sort of flawed.

RE: not a bug, more of a feature request for next update: do not breed siblings
I don't think I would like that at all myself. In rl, animals of most species inbreed and breeders intentionally inbreed to strengthen their bloodlines. We do that in sl as well, of course the traits we breed for are what is unrealistic in the sense of eye colors and shades, etc. However, the idea of inbreeding is not unrealistic at all.
As a side note, the first time I bred a father to a daughter when I first started breeding (over a year ago now) I did deal with the ick factor, but they were bunnies I really wanted to breed together and combine traits. Now, I don't even really think about it so much in any breedable that I participate in.

I can understand that moral disapproves that kind of stuff. However, my cat in RL is her dad's half sister. Fail.

hm, how does this sound:
any kittycat would mate only with a direct relative (as in, a parent, or a cat that has the same parents, both of them), if there are no other available mating partners around, or if expressively partnered to that sibling?

I still guess I am not sure why this is an issue for you Yuukie. Of course, I partner all of my cats so they only mate with who I want them to mate with, relative or not, but it sounds as if most of us don't have an issue with this and don't want it stopped.

I don't really like this idea. Especially for the reason I don't have enough cats to not breed siblings, parent/kitten etc.

One thing I really like about breeding Kittycats is that there is no personality issues, no in-breeding taboos etc. I have gotten my best kitties from back-breeding or brother/sister breeding so I have to say NO, please don't put any restrictions on the breeding. And having bred dogs in RL, well, the dogs have absolutely no qualms about this sort of thing, even tho my hubby told them they were very very bad dogs!
