Brand new to KittyCats!
Hi all,
I reinstated my Second Life account in February after a 5+ year hiatus. Things sure have changed. Since reopening my account, I have done nothing but shopping. I do have 3 RL friends who come on from time to time. But aside from that, Second Life has only been a glorified paper doll game for me and I haven't had much reason to log on. The fact that casinos are gone was a big bummer. I wander around from time to time, but I've never felt that I found something to really tie me to SL and the people within.
I was on a shopping spree tonight, and I stumbled across KittyCats. What's this? There are pets now? And you can breed them? *squeels with joy*
I used to play a game called GoPets. I loved my kitties, I loved the community, and I loved creating things for my furry friends. Unfortunately, GoPets was completely shut down. I had always hoped to find something similar... could breeding in SL be what I'm looking for?
So here I am. Wanting to get started yesterday.
I met a very nice support member, Tabby TopHat at the KittyCats main shop. She was very informative, and now I'm here to learn the rest of the puzzle. I'm itching to buy and play right this very instant. I'm sure I'll make some mistakes in the process, so any tips are welcome. There is A LOT of information to read and study, so being told of the "dos and don'ts" is always a great thing.
I sure hope I've found the community I've been looking for!

RE: Brand new to KittyCats!
WB Cya and WOW, must be some pleasant shock after 5 years no SL
Yes, you are right about the KC community being a wonderful place to restart, make friends and meet a whole lot of nice helpful people. The staff and the team are also tip-top and dedicated to providing the very best product and customer service you can find in SL.
I'd say the very best thing to do first is to grab a few pairs of starters from the Mainstore. You have 2 weeks before you get your first offspring and by then you'll have learned some, and also beginners luck may give you something really great.
Then when you start to get an idea of how to breed and what to look for when you buy from the secondary market you can get started choosing the breeders you need and like, otherwise you'll load yourself up with kitties you may regret later. But then you probably will do anyhow, we all make mistakes in the beginning and go on a buying binge lol.
Keep chatting in the group too, you'll find a lot of useful tips and answers to all of your queries.
Have fun and enjoy

RE: Brand new to KittyCats!
I do have one BIG question I'm trying to figure out. How much am I going to be into Linden wise by taking on this venture? I currently have around L$14,000, with no income aside from my weekly stipend.
I was considering getting the 5 kitten pack that includes the vitamins and whatnot... but 1/3 of my total worth is a pretty big investment when you consider that is only enough food for two weeks. But then again, would getting only a 2 kitten pack be a waste of money because not much can be done from there?
I'm definitely trying to maximize my enjoyment as well as my profit, without taking too much of a gamble and losing it all.

RE: Brand new to KittyCats!
Welcome to KittyCatS I hope you enjoy the community as much as we all do as well.
As for what cats to breed I would suggest looking around a few markets and visiting a few auctions to see what things you would like and enjoy as well as what sells for what. Auctions aren't always the best place to judge prices but they are loads of fun and information. I also have put together a little package for people who are new to KittyCatS with info the community has put together I will send you when I log in next!

RE: Brand new to KittyCats!
Well why not just start with one or two pairs to get the feel of things, this won't eat into your budget much and will give you the time to figure out how much you can spend per month. And like i said, you never know what your first can produce so this definitely isn't a waste of time at all.
One serving of food lasts one month per kitty on breeder level, the milk is optional as you can replace it with a 1/2 hour of cuddling which will give the love gain advantage, so you see this won't cost you that much.
The first week of it's life a kitty is on non breeder food level as it isn't mature yet and doesn't gain love.

RE: Brand new to KittyCats!
Oh, a serving lasts one month? I don't know why I was confused, I thought it was just one week from what I was reading on the packages. That's much better! I was looking at the prices and thinking, "Oh crap!"
Thanks again for the welcome and the advice! *runs off to buy kitties*

Oh and one last point, get easy with the idea of soon living in an unfurnished cardboard box if you don't use the online cattery

RE: Brand new to KittyCats!
Hi Cyanide, it was so nice meeting you in the shop today. :-) We have an amazing and helpful group of KittyCat owners who are active on this forum and the in-world group. Feel free to ask away in here or in the group, at anytime of the day or night. We usually have a CSR available in the shop but if you don't see one, don't be afraid to ask for help in the KittyCat Addicts group. We are so glad to have you a part of the community.
The serving that comes with the starter KittyCats are a limited quantity, that is why it only last for a short time. The regular food that you can buy from the mainshop lasts much longer. It is straight forward as you enter exit the lobby into the courtyard, you just keep going forward and you will hit the Kitty Kibble. Hope that helps!
