Twins - what is fair market value?
Hi all, I have gotten a pair of identical twins and my partner got a pair of fraternal twins. We are looking to sell them but I am not sure how to price them. Both sets are unhatched. I have not really seen any twins anywhere so I am not sure what is fair market value of them. Any direction on that would be appreciated! Thanks in advance.

RE: Twins - what is fair market value?
Hi Smile

In chat I've heard a CSR saying that an identical twin in a more rare event comes than an unidentical twin.
I breed since 2011 and just recently I've got my very first twin and it was unidentical.
While it is one of the most rare events to receive a twin I have no clue what the market for them does.
I think it has the correct value for the right buyer.
I think the best thing to do is asking yourself what you would be willing to pay for the twin and price them occordingly.
I've never obtained a twin on the market because they do not give extra breeding benefits stronger even once unboxed there is no way to tell anymore that they used to be twins.
Since I've received my own twin, which I rather liked, I keep them boxed as a memory of this rare event.

Perhaps by pricing them the traits should be taken in consideration plus some extra value because they are twins.

Best of luck with selling them! :-)

I haven't seen any real guidelines yet on market value of twins, so I would like to reopen this old discussion thread.

How can we best determine the market value for twins, especially identical twins with new traits?

RE: Twins - what is fair market value?
There is no advantage to breeding a twin, other than shown or hidden traits. Just like any other kitty. Breeding twins, doesn't mean you will get more twins at any time. Getting a set of twins is just a nice surprise for the breeder. Smile

If you get a boy and girl twins, then it saves you the trouble of trying to make a breeding pair of sibs.

I believe they should be priced for their traits like any other kitty.

I was thinking the same thing - unless, but I think it's very unlikely - there is someone somewhere who collects twins and might pay more to get them and keep them as a boxed set.

But there really isn't any difference to the buyer in breeding them vs. breeding a regular pair of siblings. It's just a nice surprise and a two-for-the-kibble-cost-of-one deal for the seller/original breeder. And getting two sooner is a bonus time-wise for you in as far as working with or selling the new traits.

RE: Twins - what is fair market value?

Gonna agree with those guys!

I've had a few sets of twins up on the wall here and there,
and nobody has ever been standing in line to grab em.

And once you hatch em', theres no physical characteristic that
would ever tell you its a twin.

Maybe if they stuck a 'T' on its forehead or something!

So unless somebody just wants a novelty item and never plans on
opening the box, there isn't much of a premium as far as price is concerned.

RE: Twins - what is fair market value?
I love this thread and conversation. I think I am one of the weird ones that will be collecting twins and unidentical twins! <3 I had a birth of unidentical twins and was so happy because I never seen that in our community before! Yay its mine! hehe its the 9th and 10th birthday kitty babies. search for my thread using the keyword "unidentical". That's how I found this old thread <3
