Traits & Pricing
I'm fairly new to breeding KittyCats and was wondering about traits and how to accurately price newborns. I've looked at this guide and was left even more confused. What exactly is a trait? How do you know what's hidden and visible? And if someone can help me to understand this with an example using the following, that would be great!

KittyCatS Box - New Born Kitten:
??????????????????????????????????????????
? New Born Kitten

Fur: Russian - Black
Eyes: Odyssey Sorbet (Shape: Curious | Pupil: Big)
Shade: Natural
Tail: Plush
Ears: Big Boo Boo
Whiskers: Silver (Shape: Guitar)
Size: Normal

?????????????????????????????
MOM: Salem
Fur: Russian - Black
Eyes: Odyssey Sorbet (Shape: Curious | Pupil: Big)
Shade: Natural
Tail: Genesis
Ears: Mysterious
Whiskers: Silver (Shape: Mysterious)

DAD: Selby
Fur: Balinese - Seal Lynx
Eyes: Wild Cherry (Shape: Curious | Pupil: Big)
Shade: Illume
Tail: Boo Boo
Ears: Big Boo Boo
Whiskers: Silver (Shape: Guitar)
??????????????????????????????????????????

Generally speaking, the overview would be:

Any fur, tail or eyes with the word GENESIS in it,

is NOT a countable trait.

The word 'Natural' for shade is NOT a countable trait.

A 'Curious' eye shape is NOT a countable trait.

A 'BIG' pupil is NOT a countable trait.

'Silver' as a whisker color is NOT a countable trait.

'Guitar' whisker shape is NOT a countable trait.

Count everything else.

For example your black ruskie,

Russian black fur, count it.

ody sorbet eyes, very sexeh, count it.

Curious AND big on the eyes, NOT countable traits.

If they were mysterious and small you could count them both.

Tail plush, count it.

Big boo boo ears, always nice, count it.

Shape is not a countable trait but may effect value,

some people love teacups, come people hate mega's.

That makes your black russian a 4 trait kitteh.

Its mom and dad threw their own traits together and

came up with this,

but we would need to see further up the pedigree to see what

the parents were hiding,

and thus what possibilities the kitten may hold in store.

Good luck with your new kitteh!

RE: Traits & Pricing
Thank you so much! That was EXACTLY what I was looking for. <3
Oh and also, are all eye colors counted as traits? I'm confused on that bit.

As long as the eye color does not include the word GENESIS in there,

it is a countable trait.

Good luck with your new kitteh!

I can add a little insight into what the possible Hidden traits could be on this 4T kitten.

This kitten is hiding an Illume shade and a Boo Boo tail both from Daddy and Mysterious shaped whiskers from mommy making this kitty actually having 7 Trait potential when it breeds.

It also hides Balinese- Seal Lynx fur, and an unknown (more recessive ear than Big Boo Boo) from Mommy.

These are the minimums hiding. If we looked at grandparents of this kitty we might see more.

Be sure to save this link: https://drive.google.com/?usp=chrome_app#folders/0B0_Wqb33nVpnZWYwNGViMGMtYWU4ZS00ZjAyLTk4OTctMzk2YzljODliMDhm

It can help with finding witch traits are more recessive than others. What ever trait is more recessive will be hiding.

There is also breeding classes for beginners offered in the community.

Tomorrow is a class at Kitty Kottage with Liriel Garnet. She is teaching a BACK To BASICS class {Beginners Class}. Any and all questions are welcome!
Maybe you can come.

Hope this helped.
