Pewter recessiveness?
I know Pewter was discovered last Valentine's 2014 but it still has not been nailed down in recessiveness. So when other eyes are discovered and are dominant to Pewter, it is not helpful.

Saga's chart says
"Pewter is recessive to Purple Rain and dominant to Mint Julep - more info, please."

That's an area about 20 eyes, so if anyone has a chart on Pewter which can establish dominance to the following eyes, it would be helpful:
Blacklight (Ret 4/12)
Grass (Ret 4/12)
Purple Rain * (Ret 10/13)
Oceania (Ret 4/12)
Odyssey Splash (Ret 5/13)
Key Lime
"CRYSTAL EYES!! (order among them still in work: Crystal Sea > Crystal Dream,
Crystal Sun > Crystal Clear, Crystal Spring ?", Crystal Sea, Crystal Dream, Crystal Sun, Crystal Clear, Crystal Spring)
Odyssey Burst
Ice Crystal
Odyssey Carnival
Morning Glory
Exotic Treasure
Double Dip Flora
Odyssey Dream (Ret 4/12)
Gerbera Orange (Ret)
Gerbera Blue (Ret)
Gerbera Pink (Ret)
Gerbera Purple (Ret)
Morning Dew (Ret)
Canary
Mercury (Ret)
Starry Baby Blues (Ret)
Odyssey Fire & Rain *
Mint Julep

RE: Pewter recessiveness?
- Odyssey Crush is dominant to Pewter, dominant to Cognac, and recessive to Double Dip Flora - more info please.

- Pewter is dominant to Mint Julep and recessive to Purple Rain - more info, please.

both of these statements are taken from the notes on the saga charts.

Odyssey crush is dominant to Pewter but recessive to Double Dip Flora therefore Pewter cannot be dominant to Double Dip Flora. Double Dip Flora is recessive to Purple Rain thus narrowing the likely placement of Pewter to between Double Dip Flora / Odyssey Crush and Mint Julep.

Correct statement should read that Pewter is Dominant to Mint Julep and recessive to Odyssey Crush which is recessive to Double Dip Flora.

I have been informed by SagaKitty that there is some doubt as to the true placement of Double Dip Flora in the charts which is why the statement has not been updated. I do feel however that maybe a little note to that effect in the charts might ease any confusion for people who notice it as I did.

RE: Pewter recessiveness?
After having a look through my Pewter eyed cats I found this proof of Dominance to Mercury

Here we have Devon a cat I bred straight from starter who hides the Pewter eye, it was pulled with Mercury

And here we can see that Devon hid the Mercury behind his shown Pewter as Mercury is dominant to the mothers Fancie Blue Diamind.
We already know Fancie Blue diamond is dominant to Blush Quartz therefore the mothers eye came from under the pewter on her side.
Its not relevant as we know Fancie Blue Diamond is recessive to Mercury but I didn't want the Pewter eye in that side of the pedigree confusing things since its clearly been bred out.

although the jury is still out on the Double Dip Flora this at least narrows Pewter from the other end Smile

RE: Pewter recessiveness?
Arwen this is great

This proves indisputably that Pewter is dominant to Mercury and narrows the range a bit

RE: Pewter recessiveness?
(sorry folks I need to make corrections because somehow I looked at this picture wrong. For some Reason I saw 2 canaries givine a Pewter baby. But it is 2 Pewters giving a Canary baby so I need to flip some of my statements)

Good work Arwen!

So Saga currently shows "Pewter is dominant to Mercury and recessive to Purple Rain"

Now we have knocked out about 20 eyes are down to between Canary - Mercury (Correct this to: Between we are between Blacklight and Canary)

So that places the eye exactly in the lineup because until now there was no eye between Canary and Mercury! (Correction: it knows a few eyes out but is not an exact placement yet. It is between Blacklight and Canary)

(Disregard the following)
the list shows
Morning Dew (Ret)
Canary
Mercury (Ret)
Starry Baby Blues (Ret)

You have found the final placement! (Jumps up and down all excited!)

Canary
Pewter
Mercury
(end disregard)

Correction:
We are now between Blacklight and Canary

Blacklight (Ret 4/12)
Grass (Ret 4/12)
Purple Rain * (Ret 10/13)
Oceania (Ret 4/12)
Odyssey Splash (Ret 5/13)
Key Lime
"CRYSTAL EYES!! (order among them still in work:
Crystal Sea > Crystal Dream,
Crystal Sun > Crystal Clear,
Crystal Spring ?"
Crystal Sea
Crystal Dream
Crystal Sun
Crytal Clear
Crystal Spring
Odyssey Burst
Ice Crystal
Odyssey Carnival
Morning Glory
Exotic Treasure
Double Dip Flora
Odyssey Dream (Ret 4/12)
Gerbera Orange (Ret)
Gerbera Blue (Ret)
Gerbera Pink (Ret)
Gerbera Purple (Ret)
Morning Dew (Ret)
Canary

which it narrows it down but we still have about 20 eyes to knock out so I am not as excited as I was

RE: Pewter recessiveness?
If anyone didn't see my earlier correction, I flipped the eyes on the parent and the kid -- really don't know how that happened because promise I am not drinking, lol

We are now between Blacklight and Canary

Blacklight (Ret 4/12)
Grass (Ret 4/12)
Purple Rain * (Ret 10/13)
Oceania (Ret 4/12)
Odyssey Splash (Ret 5/13)
Key Lime
"CRYSTAL EYES!! (order among them still in work:
Crystal Sea > Crystal Dream,
Crystal Sun > Crystal Clear,
Crystal Spring ?"
Crystal Sea
Crystal Dream
Crystal Sun
Crytal Clear
Crystal Spring
Odyssey Burst
Ice Crystal
Odyssey Carnival
Morning Glory
Exotic Treasure
Double Dip Flora
Odyssey Dream (Ret 4/12)
Gerbera Orange (Ret)
Gerbera Blue (Ret)
Gerbera Pink (Ret)
Gerbera Purple (Ret)
Morning Dew (Ret)
Canary

which it narrows it down but we still have about 20 eyes to knock out so I am not as excited as I was

RE: Pewter recessiveness?
Currently Saga charts is saying about Pewter

Pewter is between Double Dip Flora/Crystal Crush and Bronze

Bronze is between Gerbera Purple/Tapestry Allure and Canary

Which puts Pewter between Double Dip Flora and Canary

This is the current range to narrow:

Double Dip Flora
Odyssey Dream (Retired) *
Gerbera Orange (Ltd.Ed.)
Gerbera Blue (Ltd.Ed.)
Gerbera Pink (Ltd.Ed.)
Gerbera Purple (Ltd.Ed.)
Morning Dew (Retired)
Canary *

It has been whittled down quite a bit.
