RE: Summer...

I'm glad there is some more answers here.

Far from me to offend someone.

Sometimes I say a little rough. Forgive me for that. But, this way more managed some responses. Some new interesting thoughts.

Answers like: 'Accept the way things are', are really sad.

The question does not involve 30% / 70%, but about as you just follow the same discouragement flow, and, accordingly.

The month of May and June will come, and I will have to close my stores, and menagerie all my cats, and expect October Halloween!

It is compliance.

I had a trade in rl, and there is this. You can not just close your business.

Maybe my thinking is different from some. My mind works to plan different ways to sell. Plan some attractive, so sales do not cool to the point of breaking my own business.

The question at hand is:

You need six months to rest from all the work of: Christmas / Valentines / Easter?
If this was very exhausting, why not change Valentines for June?

Not yet convinced to see many friends in August and September, buying other types of breeders, and by doing gatchas, and leaving KC because of a hole in the calendar. I will not spend six months fishing. laughs

Not convinced see so many people in March and April, saying: One more summer! Another summer!

So the question is simple: Another summer has come and there is no change for this?

I respect the cats Designer, but the question is, you guys need six months to make your projects? You guys do not do projects during the winter? or perhaps just a way to justify this period.
but if this is the company's official KC, we should know about it. KC should say, 'Now make your projects and shut up'.

I hope Google is working properly.
I hope people are understanding what I'm trying to treat.
I do not want wars. I do not want to be arrogant.
Only find others with different thoughts, they can share
Just an exchange of ideas healthy

I do not want to change the world. Only understand if it is a line or something established.

You close their shops and menageire her cats in the summer WHY?

And if there is a collection of new traits in the summer, you will do the same?

I'll post something about 30/70%, as requested.

RE: Summer...
I don't close my shop or menagerie my cats in the summer, why would I? If you choose to do that, that is up to you. But I know I don't, because people do buy cats during the summer too. If you just close up and menagerie all your cats you are the one quitting summer. Not the people that keep on going.

It's not a 'accept things as they are' it's more that we are trying to explain to you why things are like this. A pair of cats can breed for 4 months, if you are a small-sized breeder you might not have a lot of pairs out. Then you either do one of two things, you breed your pairs for those 4 months and then open up the babies to breed them. Slowly work on your breedingline. Or you will breed a pair until you get two cats you like of opposite genders, menagerie the parents and go for the babies. This can take up to 4 months (this also applies to backbreeding when breeding against a parent, it can take up to 4 months to get the baby of right gender and traits). As a small breeder you might only go through 2 generation, possibly 3. Unless you have very kind cats giving you exactly what you want on their two first breeds. So to smaller sized breeders, 6 months, it's nothing. Kittycats isn't all about the breeders that have 400 pairs breeding and can open up every box right away to breed.

RE: Summer...
I don't change anything either and my stores stay as they are normally, and I don't menagerie any cats due to anything. I just accept that since less people are around, sales may be slower for this. I would suggest that if people are having to menagerie many cats in order to survive, then their business model is what is not sustainable... things don't have to change in order to accommodate this. It is always going to hit bigger breeders harder when things go quieter, but this is part of the "game" of choosing to breed so many cats. One cannot realistically expect to be doing this constantly. The market really does not need flooding with traits constantly either and it would do few of us any benefit if it were. The break does give people an opportunity to sell cats that maybe did not sell so great earlier in the year and I know of quite a few smaller breeders who actually sell more cats at this time of year, I would suggest because of the pause in the outflux of the new traits. So they get more of a chance to sell in such periods, which I think is wonderful. It is more of a level playing field for them without so many buyers choosing to buy what is new, simply because there is a pause in what is new

Or it may be for some, a time to look at all the great traits that have come out, recently and from long ago, and work with them. Personally, I do appreciate this pause in the calendar and if the market was continually being directed to new traits, I would not enjoy that at all

I love to be able to spend less time here generally over summer and a break from new cats/traits altogether is fantastic. There is just no real need to fix a system that works very well for the majority of people, is well timed and there are plenty of other things to do in RL and SL aside from the cats. Having the break actually makes me more excited for the collections such as those at Halloween

RE: Summer...
Question: This is my first summer in SL and my first breeding KC. It's there any particular time that the KC team does their summer special events?

I'm afraid that as soon as I finish selling a few live cats cheaper than I would like to because of how slow it is, they will announce that they are having an event with special babies, and then everyone will be buying. :-)

RE: Summer...
I totally love the idea of the three months spacing. This is my first year with kittycats, and the frantic scrambling to learn and do do do for the new traits, no time to work with them and having to sell them in the auctions the pace is insane and too much........ and than yeah summer my first ...... for me a welcome respite and time to work on kitties i enjoy...... and get my lines updated........... I totally love the idea of three month intervals! Think it would be just perfect!

RE: Summer...
I noticed my sales got better this weekend, so I'm thinking all the SL12B Free Kitty and Hunt attention might be helping with the summer slowdown.

Anyone else?

Any historical precedent as to whether any perceivable bump will last more than a few days?
