RE: how to get cat to drop jewels
The only cats that you KNOW will drop jewels are the Fancies, which are the cats you get by trading in the jewels. Other than that, they are very, very rare. People are saying things like one-in-a-thousand boxes or that some people never get one, but I don't know what the actual odds are.

RE: how to get cat to drop jewels

I have tried coercion on the kitteh, as in:

" I WILL NOT PLAY BALL UNTIL YOU DROP A JEWEL!"

I have tried sneaking up behind them wearing a dog mask

and shouting ' WOOF!'.

I have tried giving them 'mineral' water. . . .but still nothing.

A cat will drop a jewel only when it wants to and on ITS terms.

Good luck with that!

Jewels are for the huge kitten farms not us little people.

Sorta!

Jewels can happen to anybody.
Just not that often.

So you could end up with a couple of jewels.

Getting the whole 10-30 you might need for a fancy cat,
may take you ten years!

Somebody spewing out 100 kittens a week has much better jewel potential!

Well not really I use to have just a hand full of kitties and got like 2 in 6 months time period. but when i had full land and full cattery of kitties I didn't get even one from a kitty. LOL! talk about odd. But i did have a couple of Great Freinds give me a couple jewels as Gifts during that time period Heart

Winter, you are so darn funny, you always make me laugh. Not as in "LOL pretend I'm laughing" but laughing in RL, hard Smile

Typical of cats! KittyCatS are so much like real cats in many ways Smile On ITS terms, indeed.

I had a lot of cats back in the day (Don't think I didn't hear some of you snort just then! Wink ) and would get way more jewels than I do now. It was easier once I got the first Fancie because then they drop a jewel on every breeding. Then I would use those to get another Fancie. Once I had 3 Fancies on the go at once, and I bet there were a couple of people that had 4 or more. So once I acquired one Fancie, the jewels kept on coming.

Now I have way fewer cats (I still love breeding but have been spending more time on RL work and on the Saga Charts) so I don't get jewels as often. I think it was Veet that said 2 in 6 months? That's probably about what I've been getting since I cut back my cattery. I don't mind so much right now, though... It's been just over 2 years since the last set of fancies came out so it's not so hard to find the eyes if you want them. I have more than enough jewels for a new Fancie but I'm holding on to them until I hear of new Fancie Cats.

I was thinking about this about a month ago: we haven't seen any new Fancies since November 2012. I wonder if we'll see any new ones, soon? Hmmmm?

I think the Australian Mist furs would work very well with the Fancie treatment.

RE: how to get cat to drop jewels
Somehow, I had some good luck recently and got 3 in a row, in a month (and I am NOT a big breeder..just a newbie). But I know this will not continue, and I don't really expect to ever see jewels again.
