KittyCatS! Market Improvement Suggestions
KittyCatS! Market Improvement Suggestions
As we all know the KittyCatS! Economy is very unhealthy at the moment. Renters don't earn their rent from kitty sales and many have to discard lines because the prices for some traits are so far down that no-one sells respectable prices anymore. Even new recessive traits don't sell for what they should.
It is all well and good discussing these things, but what can we do about it? I have some suggestions that may help the current situation.
1. All in all KittyCatS! Could make bigger packeges for food, milk, collars, hats... etc. and sell them at a better price.
2. If not a general packeges update then maybe we could get X% off during limited edition releases.
3. And if that doesn't work either, how about giving us a free food in the limited edition pack that lasts for a month rather then a week.
I believe it would be much better for the kitty economy if Limited edition cats only are available for 1-2 weeks rather then a whole month. This will help their value a lot.
All secondary marketplaces are putting so much work into support, decor, events... etc. I would really appreciate it if KittyCatS! Did some events at other marketplaces rather then being on the home sim all the time. Do more like the hunts that spread over all marketplaces. Maybe even have one event a month on one secondary marketplace, and then move on to the next secondary marketplace the month after. It may also make sense to have the Q&A at other secondary marketplaces.
Secondary marketplaces struggle as well to meet tier fees. Could KittyCatS! maybe make a vendor for secondary marketplaces so we can offer food and milk to our renters and earn X% per sale?
Greetings

RE: KittyCatS! Market Improvement Suggestions
It's not just KC it's self that killing the Markets themselves. Maybe if some Sim owners (Not all sim owners) took a pro-active step in the right direction, others would follow but I don't see those Sim owners (Not all sim owners) taking any steps except for themselves. It's easy to blame just one section of the KC Market and KC themselves seem to get it in the neck far too much. YES they could improve things by all means BUT it's down to every person in the KC Community to take action and more so, collectives such as KittyCats! based sims. It's easy to point the finger instead of looking at ones self.

I think she was just coming up with suggestions. What would you suggest we do to improve the market?

Cut down on Auctions for one. Some sims are having Daily Auctions if not more. So many Auctions are killing the Market and talking with other people, most agree.

RE: KittyCatS! Market Improvement Suggestions
I completely agree with Red this has nothing to do with Kittycats Itself .. This has to do with the Secondary markets! .. the Secondary markets are responsible for creating Hunts .. and Holding events to draw people to their sim ...
Prices are suffering all over the grid because there is an Abundance of rarities ... The cats we consider rare are no longer rare and therefore people wont spend on them.. Not only is the market suffering but the auctioneers, and everyone Involved from beginning to end is suffering ... Instead of asking KittyCats to change something .. Maybe you should change something and not allow this kind of price cutting on your sim and create hunts, and events that help to better yourself? Its just an idea that i think All sims should try not just one!

RE: KittyCatS! Market Improvement Suggestions
It's just supply and demand. With hundreds (thousands?) of breeders each trying to sell to a mostly saturated market, you're going to sell mostly to either:
a) beginners like me who're mostly interested in something that looks nice to them, never mind the traits, and doesn't cost an arm and a leg because they're not interested in selling (and thus don't see the cats as an investment).
b) people looking for highly specific rarities.
So the more common traits get cheaper as the people willing to spend big already have them, it's natural.
If you're selling therefore, choose to either
a) target the masses with cute looking cheap cats
or
b) target the collector of rarities by only selling those kittens that display those rarities and have a good chance of passing them on
And be prepared to if you elect b) to accept that sooner rather than later those rarities are no longer rarities but start to become common as more and more people like you breed specifically for them.

RE: KittyCatS! Market Improvement Suggestions
Uni,
These are all great and very valid points you have made, not sure how much will be acted upon and whatnot, but as a member of the KittyCatS CoOp I am behind this 100%.
As a sim/market owner Red, I fully understand what you are saying, I believe that my market has fair priced on rentals and when things are tough I have always been known to give my renters free weeks on their rentals to help. Beyond that not sure what can happen to help when the market slows down, when people do not want to spend they cannot be forced to. As a breeder i feel the pain that is out there right now with the high cost of food and the low sales, but most of us are not in it for the money and breed for the love of it.

I agree! It would help a lot if KittyCats did something to help make the kitty economy better, and I think these ideas are great!

RE: KittyCatS! Market Improvement Suggestions
Try to find a way of how to say this and say it right without getting shot.
The sheer amount of Auctions is causing a vicious circle. Person A puts their kitty in Auction > Kitty goes Future Sale > Person A then doesn't have the Linden from that Sale to buy kitty from Person B, C, D etc. At each Auction you only get one shot at bring a kitty someone will need/want. In stores you have 10+ plus chances to offer that kitty. We need to move more of the market back into the market (stores) and out of the Auctions but I do think there is a place for Auctions, just not so many.
