Hope is in sight. Smile The day after posting about my stubborn line, I finally got Ruffles to throw her fur!!

Oh, YAY! I'm so glad you posted this follow-up success story, MiuKitten. Congratulations! It does give me hope that I might discover my kitty's hidden fur! LOL!

(I'm trying to pretend I didn't read Noc's story about a starter that only threw its genesis fur every time! Wink )

By the way, I love reading everyone's stories of frustrating breeding projects. They make me laugh... and help us all realize that it happens to everyone at one time or another in our kitty-breeding experience.

Omgosh! I'm so happy I'm not the only one. My little one threw Coco III three times. It was enough to make me go coco puffs cuz isn't that supposed to be against the odds (like there should be a rule). then finally on the forth time, I got a bengal copper which I love the bengals so I was happy but after throwing the 1 bengal, he is back to CoCo (agh!). And I still don't know what the hidden eye is.

Then I have another one birthed same time, he's a Coco too but he couldn't wait to birth his hidden fur and eyes so I have 4 kittens now with Shamrock eyes and 2 of them have Siamese Flame furs. I really wish he would talk to his brother Coco and tell him to be nice to me and give me more bengals.

Oh no, gotta go back to the waiting room. One of my babies has hit 99% and I have to go scrounge up a love drop.

Congrats Miukitten on finding your hidden

Kitten box #10 has arrived.

Yes. It's the NINTH genesis fur this Christmas kitty has thrown! Angry

Maybe I should take Callie's advice and "kick 'em"!!! Tongue

(The one non-genesis-furred kitten that's hiding the hidden was birthed last week, so perhaps next week the unknown will be known. I think it should be Siamese Chocolate Tortie! Wink In a just world.......)

Wow, Catsoliel, 9 times genesis. That must be some kind of record. Good luck on getting the mom's hidden from her kitten.

Catsoliel... I've had the same thing happen... one of my Halloween kitties threw it's hidden fur... and silly me sold it, thinking I'd have another one from the parents since it threw it once... then it was 9 weeks of gen furs... but the 10th week, it finally gave me another of the hidden fur and I did get a couple more before I finally retired the parents.

But for 9 weeks, I said a lot of not so nice things to my kitties...

That 82-day-old Christmas cat's kitten box #11 has arrived... and - FINALLY! - not a genesis fur!

It's a Foxie Salt&Pepper (like the mom)! So, I know the hidden is Salty --- or Snowshoe Cream OR Siamese Chocolate Tortie!

The Christmas kitty's one non-genesis son (a Bali Seal) also had his first offspring today. It, too, is a Salty! The mom is a Bali Cream (hiding Salt&Pepper) --- again letting me know that there's a good chance the Christmas boy's hidden is Salt&Pepper or one of the more recessive furs!

I'm doing a happy Cat dance for two reasons:

(1) We finally got a non-genesis fur out of that darn cat!

(2) I can't help but to happily and eagerly anticipate that one of those new recessive furs might be coming my way! <fingers and toes are crossed>

Big Grin

I am really enjoying learning about this breeding stuff.. even if it is like playing the kitty lottery Tongue

RE: Don't It Make My Brown Eyes Blue (or The Trouble with Starters!)
Congrats Catsoliel on finally not getting the genesis and it looks like that hidden fur is pretty low on the recessive chart. I am crossing my fingers that is one of the new ones.

Hang in there Ruby.

My GarnetGrace purrball starter on the 6th try gave me her hidden eye Morning Glory. I love purple even though it is fairly dominant but I am especially happy that I did not get another Genesis Meadow eye. She gave me latte whiskers once so she has that or better but her fur turned out to be a Silver Tabby which is pretty but I really want to find a bengal black hidden. I love how that looks. Maybe the birthday cats will give me a nice present (crossing my fingers)
