Suggestion: Make the auctions come through the media/music stream

Music Suggestion: Make the auctions come through the media/music stream
I have been battling with SL and LL to get my voice to work, I have tried every option I can think of to get it to work but to no avail. Because of this I can no longer enjoy the auctions and I am sure I am not the only one who has had this happen. SO my suggestion is to patch the auction through the media/music stream like DJ's do at a club that way even if the voice didn't work you can still hear and be able to participate in the auction. I don't know what has happened to SL but lately more and more things are falling apart making this peaceful world fall apart and I wish it would stop. End of rant but seriously we should at least think about this as an alternative for those of us who are voiceless. Thank you.

I am not exactly sure how that would work but it is something I am willing to consider as an auctioneer.

I know we have a few DJs among the breeders of the community so maybe they could help set this up if auctioneers are interested!

RE: Suggestion: Make the auctions come through the media/music stream
I've been looking into it a bit and from what I've gathered so far the auctioneer would have to run another program that is able to broadcast as well as pay to rent a stream to broadcast on.

My questions/concerns are how much lag the program would cause the auctioneer as well as how much work it would involve during the auction, also the cost of the program itself.
The cost of the stream is something to consider as well, which might be able to be spread amongst a few auctioneers who share said stream but at the moment I haven't seen any other auctioneers interested.

Since it's unlikely an auction would need to stream to 10s of thousands of listeners at once, I don't see why there should be a cost to run a stream. It's really just a question of how the auctioneer is connected. For example, those on aDSL would have an issue with the upload speed limit. If you're paying by-the-byte, as most cellular customers do, you might tier up and incur additional bandwidth fees. The stream, however, would not need to be high fidelity; which should save a whole bunch of bandwidth.

Doesn't it cost to rent a stream no matter how small amount of people listening? I have never had a need for one so I am not really sure how to go about it all.

The problem is that streams comes with a time difference.that would make bidding difficult since an auctioneer sees your bid in real time and starts to looking for the next while in sl all thinks, why she is still looking for the same bid...a stream is with like 30-60 seconds time difference

Oh good point I do remember them mentioning the time delay for the big RFL auction.

The other option is having a person to type out everything said while the bidder is talking and have a notecard for the person with the info the bidder is saying for each cat so they can copy paste it down while the bidder is telling everyone the stats.

I too have had a lot of issues at the few auctions I went to because it is hard to hear Voice for me - I tried turning the volume for it up and the volume for SL, updating my sound card etc and still can hardly hear anything unless I zoom right on top of the person talking.
