Sad Lost Cats :(
Ok guys I had quite a few cats on this land I was renting. I normally prepaid my rent for several weeks in advance. Here recently some issues in real life came up and I wasn't able to log on for a few days. Unfortunately my rent was due and I didn't realize. I logged on as soon as I could but my landlord deleted EVERYTHING! I know we can ask to have lost kitties returned but I am afraid to ask since there is so many? Anybody ever have this happen? What should I do? HuhConfused

RE: Lost Cats :(
Hi Keysha,
Normally in situations like this the landlord doesn't delete your items (there's no way for them to do that with the SL permissions) they would return all objects which then show up in your Lost and Found folder. Unfortunately, it shows up all lumped together and you have to find a space to rez everything out then find your kitties in there. If somehow they did get lost in wayward pixel space and all of their names still show up in your pedigree then you will have to do what all of us dread....sending in the biggest ticket ever. :/

Thank you so much for the quick reply! I have never had this happen and I am fairly new to renting. I checked my inventory but I checked by searching for their names. Guess I'll take another look and try to find this big lump you speak of lol, thank you!!!

RE: Lost Cats :(
Look for coalesced no copy prims in your lost & found, that's more than probably where your cats are "hiding".

RE: Lost Cats :(
When you bring out a coalesced object be sure:

1) There is enough space in every direction. The center of a large sandbox is a good choice. Near the edge is a bad idea. Near the sim boundary is a very, very bad idea.

2) There are enough prims available. CHECK, don't just assume.

3) Make SURE you can rez a new object BEFORE you drag out the coalesced object. Seriously. Don't just check your tags and think you can: create a plywood box and be sure.

RE: Lost Cats :(

A coalesced object tends to be called 'OBJECT' and its designated
in your inventory by an icon that kinda looks like a Rubiks cube.

When coalesced items are rezzed, they place themselves in the
same configuration as when they were beamed off the property.

Hence Tads 'stick em in the middle of a sandbox' statement.

If you do it in somebodies car it will be a terrible idea.

Rez in the middle of a cornfield with full permissions and plenty
of available prim space.

And don't rent from this miserly landlord anymore!
Unless your 'few days' means 'few weeks', most landlords tend
to be forgiving of good tenants screwing up.

Dump him!

And get those kitteh out of that Rubiks cube!!!

GOOD LUCK!

Not necessarily.
Coalesced objects are named by one of the objects in the cluster, the one that was selected last. When objects are coalesced because they are box selected or autoreturned, a random item will be selected last and lend its name to the bundle.

Yea I rented off them for quite some time and never had a problem. I was so upset, didn't go back. I decided to purchase some land instead. I went to a sandbox and just started rezzing every object in my lost and found and finally found them all! Thanks for all the help! They are in their new home safe and sound. They didn't get hungry maybe they ate the portable food snacks in my inventory? I don't know? Lol

I stand corrected. Though the rubiks cube effect still applies.

My statement was based on my subjective experience as a builder.
It appears 90 percent of the last objects selected in any of my coalesced experience tended to be called OBJECT!

In fact, 99 percent of my castle is called OBJECT!
