RE: Summer...
Thank you Fabio for your last post. (didn't want to repeat it all in this one lol) You really cleared some things up for me.
When I came back after over a year, I was shocked to see all the same furs for sale. The Salt and peppers, the Cream lynxs, And the only a few new furs I saw were the Tonks, Chocolates, and Marbles.
As the cycle goes, the S/P and Creams should have had their run and been gone by the time I came back. I love some of the dom furs that came out, but I know from experience they will be hard to keep unless they're old boxes, or someone bred them pure.
Here is the reason I'm a purist, and to be honest, one of the reasons I left breeding was because most of the new traits at the time were dom. I remember when Rainbow eyes were new and all the rage. They were a really hard eye to pull and keep. But eventually they took over our catteries because they were rec. (most of us ended up sick of them lol) (some may remember grape ice eyes? lol) (I still cringe when i see either of those lol)
Moving traits around to make one kitty takes a lot of inbreeding and time as we all know. The problem is, those rec traits are also pulled with inbreeding so the end results can often be not exactly what we wanted.
KC changed the way we bred starters by coming out with more dom traits. The masses were upset because it seemed like only a few were getting the new rec traits. It takes time and a lot of patience to get those rec traits from a starter. At the time there were a lot of new breeders who didn't know how to breed out those rec traits. I believe KC saw this problem and adjusted to keep the masses happy. They do what they need to do to keep the money flowing. They're a business and that's what businesses do. But they also listen to us and give more than other businesses do. Can you imagine how hard it would be to make and keep thousands of ppl happy?
Ppl may think they don't care about our secondary markets, but I'm sure they do. It effects how many boxes get opened and how much food, milk, and vits get bought. If a shop owner is doing well, chances are they're breeding more. But our market is something they can't control out right. And I am sure they listen to us and consider our pleas and plights. I believe an educated post like yours Fab was read and taken into consideration.
These are just my observations and I have no facts to back them up. Just what I have seen over time and assume.
