Luna, you just hit the nail on the head. If you want at least 1500 for her, then that's your price. If you take her to an auction, then set that as the opening and if it sells, great, you got what you wanted (and possibly more), if not, then you can keep her.
The best way to learn about pricing is to look for similar cats in auctions, bid boards and/or shops. Be aware, most auction openings can be well below what a cat would be priced in a shop, so I really recommend you research both ways.
