I can only speak from my experience. I got quite a few emeralds in the first couple of months I think (about 6, maybe?), but I was breeding a lot more pairs than now. I started breeding when the online cattery was created. I have got one or two gems recently, though.

I have wondered how new releases (tigers, special collections, etc) affect the production of gems, if at all.
