I have had some great time and enjoyed myself as breeder and seller on auctions that lasted up to 2 hours. They were educative, entertaining and manage to get people to forget how much time passed and how long it took on a panel.
Of course, but in that case try to schedule a double timespot. The issue is that there are peope who like to attend several auctions on a day. I is not very respectful if an auction stays half empty because people can't leave the auction in time that is scheduled before the auction they want to attend too. And that is what I mean with working together, not against eachoter ;-)

Not sure if people purposely want to work against each other.
I just looked in the KittyCats Addicts Group: over 13k members!
They all want entertainment at a convenient time in their day.
It seems impossible to please everyone.
I would love to be part of an educational auction which takes longer than an hour.

RE: Suggested Rules for auctions
Firstly I want to thank the contribution of all. I did not expect so many responses.
A special thanks to Pretty, and Vamp for answering, item by item.
I know this subject is a bit annoying, and we're talking about him again.
I wanted to open this topic for everyone to know exactly the reaction of people.
On one side overlapping auction is seen as an offense, on the other hand, create rules, it is also hated. and then stay as it is, is to keep all the chaos. laughs . We ran, and we went back to the same place.
If, every auction is for 1:30, and another 30 minute intervals for the next auction, what should we do with half the auctions spreadsheet? Just delete, and everything is ok? auction which will be chosen to be, and what will be deleted? Let's be honest and face reality. We are in 2014, many islands, many auctions. fights over time. fights over overlapping. It's time to organize the mess!
Do not want anyone overlap their time ???? then, does not overlap the next auction.
If your time is 10am, finish your auction 10:59. because, 11h, has another auction. Your auction is over 1 year, 2 years. Congratulations. You must auction 1 hour like everyone else. You're not special.
Learn that every question in one topic, was written because, in each question, there was a fight, a disagreement, and this caused, fights, banishments, the island against island. Auctioneer against Auctioneer. good people against good people.
The questions were purposely written to try to reach a consensus on, as the island, and the auctioneer must act in certain circumstances. These fights happen everyday. sucks.
Maybe pretend we're all adults, and close your eyes to what is happening, may be the way that many want to follow. Islands, and auctioneers, know well, the reason for all the questions.
As owner of the island, I could recommend, the other owner of the island, observe well, who you hire as official, and auctioneer. Most problems comes from it. Bad auctioneer. Bad official. Make fights, are rude, and the image of the island is that it is impaired.
But, the SL is so everyone does what he wants. a sea without rules. we are all innocent. and we think the other is wrong.
follows is a list of suggestions, so that everyone do their part for the good of all and not for the "against each other".
Do here, once again, call the other owners of islands, and all the auctioneers, to answer the item 1, item by item.

RE: Suggested Rules for auctions
a half hour gap gives patrons a break and i think is needed. We cant just spend the day rushing from one auction to another lol..it will burn out even the hardiest of patrons. And the only solution, that is both responsible and adult is to follow the Golden Rule: Do unto others as you would have them do unto you...No rules *should* be needed, but there are a few who without any guidelines will happily run roughshod over others...but of course, even with guidelines most would do it. So...all we can do is voice our concerns, suggestions and opinions and hope that hearing from our own Peers will be a gentle nudge to the happy medium where we can all enjoy KC. I have no desire to lock my patrons into my circle or sim either by pressure or clique'ish behavior...that would show insecurity on my part. So whatever anyone decides to do, whether or not i agree with it is their choice. It will not affect how I do things...so i guess what im saying is Have At it ?

RE: Suggested Rules for auctions
So the proposal is to auction off as speedy as possible and transact kitties this way.
Just so people can "conveniently" hop from one auction to the other?
That would drive me nuts as a customer.
This is clearly a proposal for the convenience of patrons.
Perhaps some people pick one auction per week they really like and leave the others alone.
That makes more sense from a buyers point view and perhaps even for sellers we do not have unlimted money.

RE: Suggested Rules for auctions
I honestly don't know any body who attends every single auction in a day,( maybe some people do lol idk) I think that people look at the advertised line ups and see where they would like to be, I don't think anybody should be forced to spend their time in a particular way, whether it be buyers sellers or auctioneers. Auctions should be an enjoyable experience for all involved, we all have the common love of the kitties so let's have fun with it!

You know what? You are absolutely right! And in an attempt to support my friends i go to way to many auctions on several sims but will be going to far fewer. It really is exhausting and kittycats is not All there is to do on SL...I have sims and clothes to build that i have neglected lately...I guess its time to get back to it

I agree here completely and as breeder I pick auctions I attend based on my sl available time and on the auctioneer, where I know Ill get what I like on auction. I cant attend them all, Id like to, perhaps to know all auctioneers and to find more that fit my preferences, but with so many on the auction schedule its im possible and yes, auctions are NOT only thing in sl, we all have our time doing something else maybe even not Kittycats related. Though, good thing is there is huge variety and that means I, as customer can choose few that fit my preferences both as buyer and seller on auction.
If people are investing their time as auctioneer and money as sim owners as well as both time and money as patrons, no one outside that group of breeders, buyers, sellers, sim owner and auctioneer can tell them how much time is the limit for them. At least its something Id never agree to. that does not mean we will now go making our auctions last 5 hours so to give everyone hard time, just means that we should to our patrons provide them with best we can to have them enjoying, selling, buying and coming back. those are the rules of auctions, be unique, be approachable and have your patrons come back. A lot are doing this Im sure, and its your patrons who make your rules, your buyers your sellers who carve how long auction is going. If you get a bid war going on on every single panel, means as you go closer to end youll tell people what? hurry up I got to finish? will any of you be willing to do that to customers? I know if I was among last panels Id not be enjoying my offered cat being rushed out just cause an auction I neither attend as breeder, seller or buyer is about to start, my offered cat deserves same treatment just as first few and if auction is blooming and going good does that really mean later panels will need to be cut down?
Make little math if auction starts in exactly 11:00 means, we got 5 mins per panel for 10 regular 1 auctioneer and one either special or sim panel. meaning if you w<ant to advertise something during auction for sim or make announcements, you got less than 5 mins per panel. If bid wars raise it also means last panels will what have 1-2 mins? Im sorry to say Im against rules on time of auction length, as I saw as patron, incidents were not a common thing, yes they happen but if you talk it out things always work about.

RE: Suggested Rules for auctions
everything is a personal choice , which sim you visit , which auction you attend , some of my closest kitty friends never even go to auctions they bore them ! , so no matter what not everyone can be pleased , Fabioazevedo I cannot answer each question in full it would take to long and with 2 rl children running around i cant even concentrate that long
My personal view is i dont want to see Kittycats become a mechanical business with robotic 1 hour auctions where there is no time for a bit of off the rails side talk this makes the auction and the auctioneer , we have to have character, we can probably all do a auction of 12 panels in a hour (5 mins per panel ) but where is the fun , the bonding , the chit chat , why attend to just state bids and buy. Again some love this form and alot dont like lenghty auctions where others love to sit for hours and hear the full history etc on a cat and the history of kittycats , a single comment can lead to a conversation not intended but in the pursuit of helping new breeders can often spark , do we the ignore this ? isnt that why we do it ?
With time zones this it is not always possible to please all this will always be a debate and no one can control time. No one can be at every auction really so as it is most attend the ones they like when they can , the few that cross over well its always happened that is where communication and respect ( i keep saying this lol ) comes in , love thy neighbour as they say
