This seems to be not such big of a deal I assume.
That was exactly what i wanted to suggest since i have read this morning from RL work that we have a temporary change. Why don't you just set up an account setting where ppl can hit "Show My Name" OR "Don't Show My Name". Let the ppl choose themself. this way noone needs to worry that alts will get puplished. And everyone else is happy aswell.

If you ask me, no. I am not so sure how we are so easily going to see who is an alt or not. Cats changes hands all the time and the community is quite diverse. I also forget names of avatars I don't know very quickly, and frankly, not very interested in anything but the cat.

Kudos to all the established breeders. Not only is your work being celebrated by assigning status, but it adds to the community. The changes to list all information justifies all your hard work and contributes to the FUN and EDUCATIONAL aspect of this virtual hobby. I believe most avatars are intelligent enough to keep confidentiality and TOS intact. However, I do understand the privacy issues regarding individual avatars or alts. Perhaps there could be an option for breeders to enable/disable the feature as needed? Please? Less Headaches and more Fun!!!
KittyCats, The must fun in any virtual world!

RE: Pedigree Anonymity (2)
I just wanted to make some clarifications. Displaying the breeder is not a "standalone" descision, but necessary to add functionality to the pedigree.
The Pedigree now allows you to access pedigrees of cats you own OR bred, compared to before where you specifically had to own the cat to access its pedigree.
To show which or why pedigrees are accesible for you, both the owner and breeder are shown.
Without the breeder tag, it would be unclear to know what you can access.
The current way of displaying "You" and "Someone Else" is sufficient but inconsistent as the owner names are fully shown.
It also lacks the ability to clarify why visitors via a pedigree link could access other cats no longer owned by you but which you bred, as they will see all as bred by "Someone Else".
I can see however why some would or wouldn't want to show the breeder names apart from showing access.
I'm also adding this message to my initial post so it wont be lost.
Thank you so far for your input and thoughts.

RE: Pedigree Anonymity (2)
I'm throwing my hands in the air and giving up on this whole issue of snobbery/elitism/etc.
Being pleased with a cat I bred doesn't make someone an elitist or a snob. Some of the cats I've been most pleased and most proud of are not even 9T cats. The trait count has also never mattered to me, nearly so much as "Is the cat pleasing to look at? Is it cute?" You can say it's like a signature on a painting or... you could even liken it to posting your pretty cat on flickr, or keeping a blog/journal about your cats. In this case, to me having my name on the pedigree with cats I bred is no different than keeping snapshots of the cats you breed.
I seriously don't see why this has turned into people assuming that there's some sort of kitty clique or kitty snobbery or kitty elitism! That honestly makes me sad. Maybe I'm naive but I like to believe that we are all awesome members of an awesome community.

RE: Pedigree Anonymity (2)
Would it be possible to set up the pedigrees to allow anyone in the system to see anything in the pedigree of any cat? If the purpose of the proposed change is to make it easier to trace back breeding information, wouldn't open access provide the most information? Is there a reason to limit viewing to breeders or owners? That is a genuine question--I really don't know.
If it were possible, wouldn't open viewing eliminate the need to list the breeder? From my perspective, I'd rather have the whole pedigree chart open for viewing with only the owners' names listed than the current proposal of listing breeders for each cat.

I don't think this is what is meant when the elitist term is thrown around. It's more referring to the previously mentioned thread in which some people preferred to buy cats with only one person's name throughout the pedigree tree rather than people who may buy two cats, breed them, and happily sell of the unnecessary OS etc. etc. etc. I should hope we are all (usually ) proud of what our kitties give us! Otherwise there wouldn't be much point to breeding!
