RE: Pedigree Script
It occurs to me that it should be fairly straightforward to locally cache the output with a 1-year expire date. That way it won't matter if the 30 minutes are up. I'll need to see if I can set that up for Charm because that 30-minute restriction is a real downer.

Why when you can just click on the cat again and get a new link ?

RE: Pedigree Script
That presupposes you're standing next to the cat an hour later when you want to bring its Pedigree Tree View back up: unlikely to be the case.

It also presupposes you even remember where you saw the cat: also unlikely.

Frankly, there is no good reason to enforce the 30-minute limit. It increases load upon the web servers, inconveniences customers, and promotes violation of copyright rights. (Heck, we even see illegal copies of their artwork on these forums .. even just yesterday in the discussion of the new Pedigree-giving feature!)
The original question was whether I should take the Pedigree Giver script down from the Marketplace.

I've come to the conclusion it should remain there. There are uses for the Pedigree Giver script which the new features cannot address.

1) One can give away copies of a configured Pedigree giver so those interested in your cat don't have to locate it in-world.

2) One can make the Pedigree View for any owned cat available, even for Cattery or Menagerie cats, without the need to bring the cat in-world.

I hate the time-limit as well... Causes me daily headaches because I need PROOF for the dominance-charts, and all I can really get it info pasted into notecards etc. -Meh.

1) is not true, I am afraid. If only it was that simple Confused -But the moment you give the pedigree-giver away, it is no longer owned by the same person who owns the cat, and it will give an error page rather than a pedigree-page.
I REALLY wish there was a way in which this was possible, though - for someone to give me access to their cats' pedigree. Would make my life infinitely easier <3
