a button on Pedigree Page to "locate inworld"
Wonder if anyone else would be interested in having a "locate inworld" button for their new kitty cat boxes? Sometimes, people don't see the chat messages and can't find where those little darlins have ended up. A little button on the pedigree page to click and see the location might be helpful!

RE: a button on Pedigree Page to "locate inworld"
There is a check-box on the Pedigree View page which tells an in-world cat to add a Pedigree Link to the Local Chat. Changes to this check-box can take a few minutes.

For this to work, either the Mothership has some way to send messages to in-world cats and boxes, or those cats and boxes are communicating with the Mothership every few minutes. Good design would use the former method, easy implementation, the later. Whatever the method, however, it does tell us there is some way for the Mothership to send commands to our cats.

What are some interesting commands which we might add to extend this facility?

* Report location. This would tell the cat/box to report its present position to its owner via IM. The owner could then teleport to the cat or box.

* Not For Sale. This would tell the cat/box to replace itself with a few copy (which it presently can do). The side effect, is to have the cat or box no longer be for sale. There is no way to have it set itself For Sale; this is a Second Life restriction.

* Return to Cattery. This instructs the cat/box to remove itself from in-world, moving it to the web-based Cattery.

* Stop Moving. This disables walk/run, line the menu command.

Most of the other in-world menu can be issued as commands, such as Pose, Set Name, hovertext options, etc, could also be added. Some, such as Set Home and Set Range make no sense or would probably cause errors, and so should not be offered.

While it might be nice to add the ability to partner in-world, I suggest it would be safer to pull the cat back to the Cattery and partner it using the existing web interface.

Along the same lines, web-based commands could be added which would do things like:

* Report Location (to Mothership). Every time the cat or box communicates with the Mothership, however, that web transaction includes the location of the cat or box at the time of the transaction; so this is just a "Hey, Are you there?" command, and is probably implied by all other commands.

* Tell the cat to report its current status (Love, Energy, etc) to the Mothership so these could be displayed to the user. (This was requested elsewhere.)

Also, if a Dock has been used, a report of the Docks and their last-know locations would be handy. We could then query the dock and, if it's still there, open the Cat->SL page and send cats and boxes in-world, as well as offer 'Teleport To Dock' links.

Area Search works to find things--the boxes are always called New Born Kitten.

This would be a *boon* for people that have multiple locations! I can't count how many times someone has been looking to buy a specific breed that I and show on my pedigree but I have to TP to each location to find.
