Wish List for Winter Cats: Dala Cats - Ivy Norsk - 08-30-2014 12:20 PM In Scandinavia at Christmas time people bring out their Dala horses. They decorate with them and give them and put them around the tree. Dala painting is mainly Swedish, but it is also very much like Norwegian rosemaling, a lovely form of folk painting with many colors and flowery scroll work. Some lovely examples can be found at Rosemaling, April's playtime. I would love to see Dala cats with either the traditional scrolly saddle design (great for riding the megapusses) or other rosemaled designs on them. I'm sure I've seen things decorated that way but didn't know it had a name or a connection with holiday traditions
