2 more weeks.. - kittyclawz Resident - 02-24-2014 08:42 PM

So its that time again where i can't afford to breed kittycats so i've came up with a plan to collect couples of breeds ive either never bred with and some
of the newest traits so when i do decide to come back i can breed those, but its upsetting leaving again its just it costs to much money in my opinion
this has happened to me last year and i thought things would change but the market keeps going downhill whenever new collectibles come out or new traits
everyone runs straight to it but when theres people that's been working on their products hoping to get a good outcome it turns out not really how they
expected were either having to sell out kitties for less than there worth or just giving them away in some words, i just wish there was a button on the kitty
menu that you could send your kitty to menagerie but then you could decide whether to get lindens or k$ it takes me forever to sell my cats and it makes me
think whether i should carry on breeding since this keeps happening to me i don't think i'm the only one either having these experiences i only come onto sl
to breed kittycats & speak to my kittycat friends :/ i just wish the prices on food would come down and perma potions come down so i don't feel guilty about my collectibles
whose reached retirement in my inventory i just hope kittycats look into it that once a cat turns 120 they can be perma'd for free since we've feed them for 120 days i think
we're entitled to it really i love kittycats i really do i hate to moan about prices and etc its just i hate having to go on breaks and wait for myself to either
save up rl money to spend it on here or just go back to rl for awhile and then see if id come back and start breeding its always a scare for me incase im just gonna
put my foot init and get myself broke all the time.

I just do hope the market get's better and the prices so its alot easier for us to breed and sell and not have it feel like a race to have the newest cat
when i first started i never saw it as a competition i just saw it as a hobby to breed kittycats because they were so cute.

but i will miss breeding tho once im away ill be thinking of all of you kittycats breeders!

this isn't a hate post just incase people get the wrong end of the stick its just i needed to get it off my chest before my break but im very grateful for everything kittycats
have done for us Smile Heart

Hello Kittyclawz,

I started breeding KittyCatS! about a year and a half ago or so. I started because I love cats in real life. I saw it as a hobby, nothing other than that. I bred for fun about 6 couples for the longest time, until back in may, I decided to learn more about the cats and see to learn more about breeding. I think that many of us look for a way that the game sustains itself. Food is not free, the more cats you have the more you spend, etc. I do not think there is really a win situation in breeding any breedable in Second Life. I think you might cash in unexpectedly at one point or another, or sometimes even cover part of the costs in a constant manner, if you are lucky enough to be able to have a steady income of Lindens from selling the cats. Although I have spent, thus far, a lot of money - buying cats, food, vitamins, etc -- I have sold about 5 cats during all this time, which would never even begin to cover the cost of one purchased cat. I do not currently sell or set my mind to sell kitties because that will lead me to frustration. While I have gone overboard in breeding too many cats that cost me a fortune (out of pocket) to maintain, I have decided that a successful business solely by breeding is really a long shot to achieve. Coming to terms in that aspect, I have decided to slow down, have a breeding goal and discard anything else that does not match my personal image of a cat. I would like it to be my own personal achievement, and my own personal satisfaction, rather to stress over wether I will or will not sell a cat.

Obviously, each of us know exactly how much we can afford to invest in a hobby. My suggestion is stick to a budget and do not deviate from it, and simply enjoy breeding and having the kitties. That way, if a sell comes along it is a win, no matter which way you look at it. I do not advice people to go into credit card debt over any game, that is no solution. Know your limits and work around them. Once you have that in mind, just have fun and enjoy it.

In terms of the point you made about perma-petting your cat, I completely agree. Once a cat has been fed for 120 days, the perma-petting should be automatic or free. I believe this is something KittyCatS! can achieve, and keep selling the perma-petting for cats under 120 days. Most of us love our cats so much it is hard to menagerie them. Perhaps that is something to come in the near future. I sure hope so!

Good luck and hope you do not give up on your breeding. Do it for your pleasure, do it at your own capacity, do it under your budget and you will see that breeding them is possible and find joy in doing so.

Always;
Ruby
