Hi Elijah,
Our KittyCatS do purr and meow.
They are just not too loud, zoom in on yours and i am sure you will eventually hear them.

They purr and snore and mew and do all sorts of things. Just make sure that you have sounds on, it's in the animation tab of their popup menu.

My cats usually "miao"--all together!--when I've been cuddling them for more than thirty minutes.
I never hear them meow at any other time. I have never ever heard a KittyCatS purr or snore. I even turned on every sound control I have a few weeks ago, and still have heard nothing. When do they make the other sounds? Which sound controllers allow you to hear which sounds?

Actually I'm sure there are two types of meow:
There is a soft "Miew" that I suspect comes from kittens, it has a higher note than the other one which sounds more like a "Meow" which I think it comes from adult cats. I haven't really tested this because I keep them all, young and old in the same area.
I love it when they all meow at the same time, sometimes with a split of a second of difference between each other which gives the impression that you're hearing a surround sound-room filling "Meow!"

Mine do that too. Stand in a group of cats, and you'll hear them almost as a group make noises. I know you have to have sounds enabled in the viewer interface, and I know you have to have sounds on in the cat's menu. Beyond that, honestly, I don't know what else needs to be enabled. The way mine go when they all meow together, my RL cat used to freak until he got used to it.

As with all sounds in SL the closer your camera is the louder you will hear it. So if you are over working and cammed into another area unless one of your cats walks over it is doubtful you would hear much when they mew.
