The Cattery is essentially just a data base, right ?
So *IF* KCs plans to transfer SL 2 why we should have to lose any kitties or rezzed boxes whatsoever ?
Restarting from scratch in SL 2 is the worst best idea ever ; i doubt very much that those who have massively invested in (i.e.) legendary 2011 collectibles, those who would lose old and much loved pets, etc, would be very inclined to follow.
And make no mistake, some would get pretty voluble about the reasons why.
Also, it's all part of a history, lose the history and what's left ?
KittyCatS has a four year (almost) history of many dedicated people who have greatly (discreetly and freely) contributed to the development of the biz as well as investing many hard earned $$ so all in all if they don't merit some consideration then effit .

I hope Ivy is right and they find a way to bypass this all to a brand new grid with such different functionality that LL prefered a SL 2 over an upgrade of SL 1.
That's where my concerns start that SL 2 will be so different.
I've a huge personal collection and many permapets and also charity kitties I am highly attached to so I'd rave any bypass functionality of the cats in a new world.
I love the breeding game so I may be the fool who follows KC regardless of them being able to restore our kitties but it would be a tremendous ouch.

What do I expect will transfer?
Landmarks? No.
Calling cards? No.
Sculpies? No.
Body parts? No. No hair, skin, clothes, nothing.
Shapes? No.
Rigged mesh? No. No mesh bodies, no custom avatars.
Animations? No. There may be a conversion utility. It may actually work. But expect a lot of complaints from the motion-capture crowd.
Gestures? No. I'd expect these to either go away. If the concept caries over, there may be a conversion utility. It may even work.
Scripts? No. There may be a conversion offered; but those things rarely work well, so expect a LOT of complaints and issues.
Prims? No. There may be a conversion utility, but don't expect it to work well.
Notecards? Sorta. Plain text, certainly. Those with embedded items, probably not.
Un-rigged mesh? Yes.
Textures? Yes.
Remember: This is an issue ONLY for content creators.
If you didn't create it, or can't re-create it from local (outside SL) backups, it will not transfer to "SL2". If you are a content creator and have local backups, well, at least your textures, and un-rigged mesh buildings and furniture are salvageable.
But a normal player should expect to jump to "SL2" to find they are Ruth (well, a bit better looking, but Ruth nonetheless) wandering a wasteland of LL-created gee-whiz proofs--of-concept and empty land.
Oh, and forget Firestorm. I strongly doubt the viewers will work.

before this turns into a rumor of what we will or won't do, please remember that no one knows what SL2 will be like and, we don't even know if people will like it more. we just do not know.
as a company, of course we will keep our ears and eyes open and consider all things including our customers no matter what changes do or don't happen.
there is just no way to know what is going on with SL2, the beta that was promised in 2014 didn't happen. again, we just do not know.
when we do know facts, be certain we will inform this community about anything that happens
we are a team that is not afraid of changes or challenges, and again we just do not know the facts, so speculating is unwise and really undue stress and also, living outside of the only thing we truly have, the now. cheers!!

SL2 IS the update of SL1. They can't keep the hamsters running on those old wheels forever!

The content creators will get their stuff reworked/rerigged as soon as they have the new standard mesh skeleton to work with! Mesh hair and mesh shoes will probably not be so bad to rework.

People who are afraid of landing as Ruth can wait the 6 months at home in SL1 while the new place is being colonized. I personally will head in as soon as they get a viewer working.

Exactly how I feel Callie the "now" but not when it comes to my money I tend to plan my investments wisely for my future.
Weird habbit maybe but I am raised that way

Actually I had no thoughts one way or another about sl2 it just seems to have taken over this thread which was about the price of permapets. At this point any discussion of sl2 is purely theoretical because no one knows what type of world they are trying to create.
In the here and now, I would like affordable permapets as I refuse to menagerie my babies. I don't care if you just have a sale on the 120s that would perfectly fit what I want anyway.
Could we all please get back on the topic, which is permapets and how much they cost.

As Zarabeth is pointing out, this thread is about us wanting a sale on permapet potions, not about wether or not ANY of out kittycat collections will mean anything to SL2.
We're still in SL1, we want an oppertunity for cheaper kittycat permapotions in SL1, thats what this thread is for.

Why has a perma sale thread become SL2? Lol
But I totally agree for the cheaper perma potion...because no matter how much we may "benefit" for perma our pet as compared to feed them, we still WILL BUT food and kibble because we just want a unique cat. So we will still breed.
But a lower perma cost will enable us to keep our old cats. In fact lower perma cost = more business for KC too because people will breed more to menagerie for the special cats...
So it's a win-win situation that KittyCats can look into^^

That's my point exactly Yulie, I will still be breeding cats and buying food for them for as long as sl lasts. I really would like to perma my cats as they age out of breeding but the price is far too high for me to be able to do that. Please, a lower price or even a sale would help!
