I am aware of how the world works. It would just be nice if SL didn't work the same way. All that I am saying, and hate me if you want to hate me, that's your right, I don't care.... But all I am saying is that in a digital world like SL, it would be nice to be able to get the things one wants, instead of not being able to afford it, just like in RL. Obviously, that's naive of me. However, it still would be nice.... Especially when you are in deep, agonizing pain 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

1. I'm sure nobody hates you. Hate is a pretty strong word.
2. You have a right to voice your opinion as does everyone replying to it.
3. I have Hashimotos Thyroiditis, Fibromyalgia, Degenerative Disc Disease, Osteoarthritis, and a shopping list of other conditions to go with them. That does not change the fact that Linden Labs, KittyCats!, and many of the breeders here are in the (virtual) business of making money.

I am going to have a great day. I hope you do too. Big Grin

The only thing I know is there was good business in specials.
I wouldn't invest for interest nowadays but it used to be very good.
I think breeding is for fun.
Sometimes I made money but I have no shop anymore and I am still breeding.
I love to make my own ideal kitties and nobody has to like them Smile

To think I've sold first generation kitties for 65K or higher..
Those were days in which I could fund my RL if I needed to.

No hate at all.
I think also for some people the prize is too high for others fair: depends on our RL financial situation.
But isn't that so with everything in either life?

The kittycatS market is not what it was years ago and probably will never be again. I can also remember days when new traits were 30,40,50k. Even now one way to make money in this does require somebody to buy a new trait or to be lucky enough to discover it. Then when this trait is so new it is worth a lot because of being so scarce so somebody could invest in that if they want and maybe make money.

Megas will always cost more from being rare and if someone has mega taste then it is costly because it just is. LE non normal size especially megas are always going to be costing more because they are rare too. It would be unusual if they did not cost 10,15k or more because they are rare and if somebody has a rare taste then it costs money for this taste. Also some of those very expensive cats have come from a time when much less people were involved in kitties. It is only my guess but probably there were only 1-5 mega of those ever and it is fair they cost a lot.

When people are buying many LE cats this is a way they may make somekind of profit by selling the rares and I think it is fair for how many they purchased. But there is no guarantee somebody will even get any rare size or the most rare type of cat no matter how many they buy from kittycatS directly when there is the LE collections. I have seen people buy 50 LE and they get no size at all. I have also seen somebody buy 2 or 3 and get a size or even megapuss. It is all completely random and luck.

So 10-20k is not really so bad as a price because lets say you buy for the same amount, 20k, about 25 collector cats from kittycatS direct. I don't think that gives a good guarantee of getting the mega you want in the fur you want. But buying it for 20k does and you know exactly which cat you pick, even gender and size. No risk but the cat guaranteed for this price and I think that is good value if somebody can afford it. If not then maybe wanting rare things is not going to work out because they cannot be afforded.

Some people enjoy playing the machines in the mainstore for the LE. Some people like instead to know exactly which one they are getting and buy at a secondary market. Because of both of these types of people it makes the market work for everybody.

I have bought a few cats for 20k or so over the years. Now I don't really. There are lots of cats I would still really like to have but I just don't want to spend so much. For me that's related to me making less money selling. So I still do buy cats but I buy less expensive cats now within my means and I have adjusted my taste to cuties I can afford and there are plenty out there for good prices and for sure less than 1k each =)

I am also disabled, and I tend to spend too much of my fixed income on KittyCatS (mostly on kibble...and that has to stop, lol!). I have found, contrary to what was posted above, that there are a LOT of lovely cats on the SL Marketplace that are priced quite reasonably. Some of them are even megas. My kibble spend has a lot to do with my wish to breed for my own pleasure..I do not market my kittens. Because of breeding, I have been blessed with several of my own megas (one is even a Halloween cat from last year's batch...my ONLY LE mega!) Of course I can't buy the Linden20k+ cats on the market, but I honor the right of entrepreneurs to make whatever profit suits them. I have also seen many acts of generosity from people in the KC community. I was gifted (early in my KC days) with a mega from a very big name breeder. Other breeders have sometimes shared very pretty normal cats, either at a super low price or even sometimes for free. I myself love to share my kitten boxes, if only to see these pretty cats enjoyed, instead of sitting in my cattery unopened.
