Hi I'm new to sl... and just got myself somewhere to live. I went to kitty cats and bought a burmese but when I went home and tried to get my kitty nothing happened. I rezzed it on the floor and am having loads of trouble. I guess cos I don't understand a lot of the language here. When I went to copy to inventory it said it wasn't a copy and it would have script problems (or something to that effect) I don't get the blue box with the instructions like unpack??? What am I doing wrong? It also says I need 14 prims??? My home has 10? Do I need to get more prims? (whatever they are) Please help as I've my kitty in the box waiting to be born =^..^=
Hai Taeylor,
Is the kitteh in a box?
You definitely need at least 13 prims, more if your kitty has collar, hat, etc. You need 14 prims to birth a box.
You also need to feed the kitty, so you'll need another 2 prims for food.
If you don't get a blue menu, check to see that scripts are enabled on the land Smile

Welcome to Secondlife Taeylor.
You're having multiple issues,
first your new to SL, so you have the initial learning curve.
Then you grab a kittycats, a second learning curve!

Prims ( primatives) are the basic building blocks in SL,
think of a prim as a cube or a sphere, etc,
that you can stretch, texture, and add physics to.

You build stuff out of these basic blocks.

KittyCatS are made out of these building blocks!

A land mass makes available a certain number of prims,
based on the size of the property,
which it allocates to the land owner.

You are renting from a landowner and they are giving you
'X' amount of prims to use.

To have a live kitteh running around the house with
its required bowl of food will require 15 prims minimum.
You say you have ten. Not enough.
YOU NEED A BIGGER APARTMENT!

Once you have the proper space,
then its as simple as rezzing the kitteh box on your floor.
Unlike some item boxes, where you open the box by clicking on its contents
and dragging the contents into your inventory,
you DON'T do that with a kittycats box.
Iif you click a kittycats box, a menu opens up.
On that menu you click its unbox button,
and the process begins.
You dont have to do anything but watch the box wiggle around.
and read its THE KITTY WILL BE BORN SOON messages.

If you screw up and try to drag the contents of a kittycats box
into your inventory,
you mess everything up.
At that point you go to this website and file a SUPPORT TICKET.
At which point the company will bail you out,
and send you a fixed kitteh.

At the bottom of this message you will find an http link to my shoppe.
You can rez kitteh's in front of the shop if your having prim issues.

BEST OF LUCK WITH YOUR NEW ADVENTURE!

First of all, welcome to Second Life. I guess everything is new and confusing but please try and stick with it. It is an amazing world when you settle in.

You said you were unsure what prims were and this, I think, is going to be your first and biggest problem.

Imagine that everything you see around you in Second Life is built of Lego blocks – that is what prims are. Prims are the Lego building blocks of this virtual world. When you buy a house, you are allocated a prim allowance: that is because it takes computer power to construct these “Lego” items around you. To be able to rez a cat you need 14 spare bits of this computer “Lego” available on your land. If you have only an allocation of ten prims you simply will be unable to rez a cat. The best way around this is to delete some item of furniture (so that you can have a few more spare prims) or explore the use of the cattery. Go to the manual on this website and read up on the use of the cattery. It is an excellent way of rearing cats if you don’t have sufficient prims available at home.

Thanks for that much appreciated reply...
Well I've done what you said I shouldn't... I opened the box and copied to inventory... So I've stuffed that...

If I open my kitteh at your shoppe how will I get it back to my apartment?

I've also contacted the landlord of my apartment and hoping she will help me out with giving me more prims...

So I will have to go and get a support ticket for the company to bail me out...

Thank you again for all this information... There is a lot to get my head around...

I live on an island, and next to my ship there are rental rowboats.
When you get on the rowboat, it will give you oars to paddle with.
We also have an orca whale out in the bay that is rideable.
Either one will allow you to escape the rough waves and riptide.

Once out to sea, steer the whale to the west.
Just make sure to have plenty of seal meat in your pocket
or it will eat YOU.

You could always feed it the kitten first,
but that would defeat the entire purpose of this exercise.

Of course, you could skip these complications.
by simply taking the kitty into your inventory
and teleporting home Wink
