Full Version: Lost Kitty Highlighting in Pedigree

Hello,

as we all loose our cats once in a lifetime, I have been wishing for a solution that makes it a bit easier to find who is missing for everyone with like a ton of cats.
I know on a other breedable the text gets yellow if the pet in world stops taking touch with the server and alas can be counted as lost....

That makes me think we could need something like that too... So what about this...
When a Pet gets lost in SL, the pedigree listed pet could get a yellow background or a red text instead of black text, however so you notice that this pet having issues/got lost. It's not about seing at the website that you lost a pet, but rather about you in SL missing a pet and checking pedigree to see which... might come handy to all those breeder with above 50 cats... when it's confusing to remember the name what cat and such.. Smile

So I so vote for a highligted pedigree line for all in-world cats that are missing (or who's scripts stopped taking touch with the server). Smile

EDIT: Of course, this probably works just for the cats that already are born so we are not talking about the lost boxes.. loosing a box still means compare compare compare.. XD
Thank you StrayCat for posting this up!Idea

It can certainly be challenging to figure out which specific cat is the one we lost or the one that ended up rezzing as a white cat on the dock while trying to retrieve it from the online cattery. I retrieve cats from the cattery to inworld and vice versa daily and the only times i have lost kittens recently have been during this process.
Considering the "dud" that rezzes on the dock contains no info whatsoever of which cat it was supposed to be, the comparison between the "stock" in world and what's listed on pedigree can take a long time (and leaves me with a lot of eye strain as well).

I support this request fully, as it might alert us of the lost of a cat even before we notice it in world. Also extremely helpful for us with cats at various locations on the grid.

Thanks again!

Giulia.
I'd separate the "dud" cats which failed to rez completely on the Dock from lost cats.

The "dud" cats should be automatically detected by the Dock and automatically returned to the Cattery. This process should only take a few seconds and the only "loss" mode would be a sim restart during the process. If this is not currently the case, it should be marked as a design flaw/bug because the solution can be fully implemented in LSL/Mono. A sim restart can be detected too, and recovered from, but I'm not sure it's worth the effort due to the very low probability of it causing a problem.

Lost cats should be separated into categories. We all lose prims, and we all forget which sim they're on. Having the SLURL for cats on the Pedigree, and showing In Cattery for those not in-world, would allow us to TP to the cat from the web site. You can call a cat to you with the HUD .. but that presumes you have a HUD attached, and that you're on the correct sim.

Lost cats lost inside inventories, or inadvertently deleted for some reason, are those which are not talking to the Mothership; and those should be highlighted as suggested above. The date/time of last contact should also appear.

To assist with finding lost boxes, we need a listing which shows only those boxes (and/or cats) NOT in the Cattery. By definition, those in the Cattery are NOT lost. Boxes also report to the Mothership on owner change, rename, and possibly other events. Having the SLURL and date/time of that report would aid greatly in finding those boxes (and/or cats).
Thank you for adding up technical suggestion to this thread. The only cats I've been loosing lately are whilst trying to retrieve them from the cattery to the dock but I know many still loose cats on sim restarts or for many other reasons. I am not sure what changed but lately, despite the fact that i seem to keep more and more cats in world than what I used to since the online cattery was launched, the sim restarts haven't managed to "swallow" any of my cats in the past few months, whatever it was, I'm more than grateful.
If the dock has the ability to detect when a cat failed to rezz properly and return it to the cattery so we can try and retrieve it again would be more than wonderful and save a lot of time in filing/replying tickets.

Thanks again and consider this a bumpity bumped thread!

Giulia
