Hi! I'm still new at breeding and am wondering, will retired traits still get passed down or will they disappear in future generations?
I understand no starter kitties will have those traits again but... just want to be sure there's still a chance for them to get passed down to offspring.

Thanks in advance,
~Dani
Hi there Dani!

Yes retired traits will still pass down if your cats either show or hide that trait. Retired only means they are no longer able to be found in new starter cats. Smile
You have to hunt for them but they are still out there and the best place is for collection offsprings or collections before the trait retired.

I have started to open some of my old boxes and have been pleasantly surprised with a few oldies.

Remember, it has to be a BOX (or live cat still young enough to breed).

If it's a box-giver (a delivery pack with food, etc, included) the traits are not set until the box is received. If it should have a paint-job, it will still have that paint-job, but it will not give the now-retired traits it would have had if you had taken it from the package when those traits were not yet retired.

ETA: Yes, that also means the newly removed box can also have traits which were not available when the box-giver was first received. A box's traits are set according to the currently available traits when first rez'd the box in-world. All this applies to STARTERS. Traits for offspring are always fully set by their parents.
