I discovered recently while setting up a scene that kittycats cannot be rotated (and hold that rotation) except along the Z axis. They rotate back when they wake or go to sleep. Is that a necessary thing for some reason?
Thanks!

You need to set their Home again after rotating. Then they should not rotate back.
But if you Take them to inventory, and then Rezz them again, they will not remember their old rotation angle, which is annoying if your land is not facing the right direction.
I have had to rotate my entire in world breeding operation by 90 or 270 degrees when changing to another sim/parcel, so the 2D boxes face the right direction when rezzed. Why the boxes have no rotational memory when re-rezzed I don't know, as most objects do remember the last rezzed rotation (although not the last rezzed position of course.)

Actually, no, I set home and it rotated, so I IM'd kitten about it and she confirmed they'll only save z axis rotations. I see what you're saying, but you probably weren't trying to rotate and save your boxes along the x and y....the z rotation is likely what you were doing.

Ah, ok, I missed you were rotating the cats "sideways", I've always preferred my cats to sit upright on all four feet
I have seen some Vampire cats displayed upside down but they were Unpacked boxes, so this only applies to live cats? Also I think z-rotation is saved when rezzed, which means the cat or cat box rotate to their prior z-angle when rezzed, like other objects.

Yeah, they're live cats. I set up a scene that needs to be set up for a couple weeks for viewing and am having to go several times a day and re-rotate cats since they're on different sleep schedules.
I am having hte same problem Jag. I set up my cat in a "sleeping" pose because there is no good equivalent standing one (some of the poses seemed to have disappeared?) and then rotate her so she is standing vertical. I do the set home but next time I go, she is horizontal instead of vertical again. It is frustrating.

If you're looking for one of the original poses, click the "Legacy" button, then use the arrow buttons to page through them. Scroll down to see the number of each pose.
Nope, I have clicked Legacy. They don't show up. I don't know if it's because Morella is a permapet or not but clicking Legacy just makes her "sit". Instead of opening a page of poses, it's like Legacy is one pose itself, a sit pose. None of the old poses show up.

Can you test on a non-permapet? After you click "Legacy", there should be buttons at the top labelled ""<<" and ">>" for paging through that set of poses.
(I checked yesterday, but I'm not logged in right now, so my names may be a little off.)
The Pose menu won't let the cats cycle through poses like Sit/Lay does in Animation.
However I just counted, Pose has 182 possible poses, including the Mirrors.
There are 37 basic laying poses, and 43 for the other poses, plus the 11 Legacy poses, for 91 in all, x2 for the Mirrors = 182 poses!
Those unlabeled arrow keys at the top actually do something.
