In Scandinavia at Christmas time people bring out their Dala horses.



They decorate with them and give them and put them around the tree. Dala painting is mainly Swedish, but it is also very much like Norwegian rosemaling, a lovely form of folk painting with many colors and flowery scroll work.

Some lovely examples can be found at Rosemaling, April's playtime.

I would love to see Dala cats with either the traditional scrolly saddle design (great for riding the megapusses) or other rosemaled designs on them.

In fact the Rosemaling designs themselves would make for a fabulous collection any time of the year.

This decorative style would make these cats a lovely counterpart to designs like the Day of the Dead cats
Thanks for showing us this ! I'm sure I've seen things decorated that way but didn't know it had a name or a connection with holiday traditions
