Its the 'teacup' part that brings this uber value.

Anybody can buy two hell-0 kittehs and make the special kitten.

I've seen hell-0's as cheap as 350L,

which means you could theoretically make a special for 700L.

A normal size special offspring is worth the cost to make it,

plus a reasonable profit margin for your effort.

Cus anybody can do it.

But size is the variable you have no control over.

Its random, and rarer to get a funky size than a normal.

You could blow ten thousand lindens and NEVER get a teacup.

Thus, after a point where you've blown too much already,

its cheaper to pay somebody who's already been lucky.

Yes, you will see 10,000L special sizes out there.

Doubt you will find many people spending that for one.

Why?

Because somebody else will be selling them for 4,999L

and its just a matter of shopping around.

Those 10k mega's will be collecting dust on a shelf for awhile.

So whats your teacup worth?

I would buy one for 1500.

( so you dont want to sell it to ME, Im relatively CHEAP!)

Put an ad in the forums asking for offers and see what happens.

Some folks have better luck selling at auction,

where a group of buyers are interested in the same thing,

and jack the price up through bidding.

Or just learn the fine art of haggling, and MAKE THAT SALE!

well i got the boss in toy size in auction for 1100 i think its a good price to me, so i think maybe around this range, hope that helps

I sold my toy one for 1500. I priced by what the parents cost plus cost of food Smile

Thats called priced for a quick sale!

Often done when the rent is due, or the kibble dispenser is running out!

Teacups dont show up that often,

so you also have the special 'size premium' to add,

in addition to simply what parents and food costs are.

You can sell a teacup Boss higher and still sell reasonably quick,

based on cool factor alone!

Its the folks priced at 5k who wont be selling anytime soon.

Kinda like one of those 40k 'dust collector' megas you see parked around.

Down the road, when rarity washes in, then they will command higher,

and a $4999 price tag may not seem that outrageous anymore.

Unless a busload of Saudi oil barons shows up at your tent.

Then do a quick doubling of all your prices!

And put that 40k Shadowdancer mega right on the hood of their bus!

WOAH THERE !

A little while back there was a mega Boss on the bidboards at the Kottage.
I don't know how much it went for in the end but it was already over 20K.
Well ok, many would like a mega like Equi's at mainstore, but teas will be just as rare as megas i think.
Really, i'd hang onto it and see just how many other teas actually do arrive. If not you could soon be kicking yourself if you let it go for anywhere under 10K, and don't forget that the older the special the more the value adds.

Ok, people can and will ask whatever price they wish, and it's perfectly understandable, many need to break even otherwise they just can't continue to breed.

On the other hand, we've fought to maintain a sustainable market for getting on for 3 years now. i just don't buy the " oh i"m not greedy i don't ask much" line of some people, they need kibble and rent money is all. At best it's a misconception.
The reality is that if this market drops too much, many will be forced out, others will be down to a strict minimum of breeders, the dev team will eventually have to cut down on resources, just maintain a minimum of support and we'll all be left wondering just how and why this happened.

The devs provide us with the best possible product, ongoing development, CS; it just doesn't get any better with breedables.
The rest is up to us, that means each and every one of us.

Isnt that like 80 real dollars?

The Saudi oil baron bus was parked by those bidboards!

Even a 10k teacup is 40 real bucks!

We are looking at polar opposites of the pricing game here.

I'm going to assume more people involved cannot afford 80 dollars for a puppet cat.

And of those that do,

they would be more likely to blow that 80 dollars buying out of the factory vendors,

and hoping to luck out on their own,

and the factory is just thrilled with that.

They sell more specials on the HOPE's of getting a fancy size.

With the aftermarket, supply and demand dictates the value.

Two rich people bidding on a mega just says there are two people out there

willing to part with that kind of cash.

I wander the shoppes and mega malls,

I see the same dust collectors sitting on shelves months in a row.

The aftermarket has a few people making kibble money,

and the rest renting stalls and not selling anything.

People want the limited edition size variants,

but they dont as a rule want to spend that much cash on one.

You try to find that middle ground where you actually sell something,

but if you are patient, those who came late to the party will pay more,

for the mega teacup specials they missed.

20k ??

Best of luck with that one.

Maybe somebody has a rich aunt and their birthday is coming up!

As long as people buy the factory specials, and buy that food and milk,

the factory will be quite happy to dish out more special editions.

The aftermarket is on its own.

I find myself buying older limited editions that happened before my time,

but it needs to have the magic number before I hit the buy button.

You figure out that number sooner or later.

Whats your magic number? Whats the most you have spent on a cat?
