I'm under the impression that shades,
being mere factors of gloss or glow,
could be modified with a menu button.
That for some reason,
the 'natural' shade has become an 'uncountable' trait,
and therefore an 'undesirable' trait to the
TRAIT COUNTING POLICE,
even though many furs simply look better au naturel.
Majoring in white ruskies for example,
the details in fur are often totally BLOWN OUT
by the luminescence factor.
So in order to come up with a 9 trait white,
to appease the adament trait counters,
I have to come up with varying degrees of halogen kitteh'
Thus I think the shiny/glowy shade traits,
(tho in some instances may be desirable)
is totally overrated as a mandatory upgrade
to the trait counting scene.
I would rather go to an eight trait max,
and install a shiny/glowy button to the menu.

Anything "standard" that a starter shows will not be considered a countable trait. I do agree with loving natural shade and myself I prefer Mysterious eye shape with big pupil or curious eye shape with the small pupil. No one will agree on an ideal purrfect cat. Everyone will breed for THEIR ideal be it 9 traits a certain trait combo ect ect.
I think people need to stop valuing 9 traits as the holy grail and look at the actual trait combos personally. I have no problem NOT putting a shade in my projects if I don't want it there and I have NEVER bred for the full 9 traits. I bred for what I find attractive and what I desire. There are cases where I have wanted a shade and times where I haven't. Personally I love a white russian with porcelain as they capture the look of an actual porcelain cat. In the end it is breeding for your desires and not what others think.
Although i totally agree that some shades do in fact spoil the effect rather than enhance, especially glitter on RWs (ugh !), some shades can be very pretty depending on the fur and eyes. I also think the majority are very attached to their shades, and losing a trait would be a step backwards and would have a very negative impact both for breeding and the market too.
In fact i too prefer no shade in general and i know a few others do as well.
So how about a compromise ? An on/off button for shade so that we have the choice of showing given shade or natural, this way we don't lose what can be a valuable trait, especially in case of a new shade, and everyone stays happy .
I'd like them to add even more types of traits, I want a 42 traited cat. Nerd reference, +1
